Favorite Spurs championship teams

I don't think the 2007 team was necessarily as good as the others, but I do think they're slightly underrated because of the weak opposition they faced at the end. Ultimately, you can only beat the teams put in front of you, and they still swept aside the Cavs - who were a pretty good side themselves that year - with minimum fuss. If each series that year had been as intense as the WCSF versus the Suns, then '07 might get a little more recognition. Who's to say how highly this team might be regarded if they had faced tougher opposition?

I was a little later to the party than most posters (became a Spurs fan in 2003), but would rank 2005 as my favourite, because it was the first real le since I'd become a proper fan, and it was probably the most exciting cir stances; winning at home, in a game seven, decided in the final quarter. Then 2014, because I appreciate it a whole lot more, then 2007, and lastly 2003 (which I only really caught the tail-end of). I've watched as much of the 1999 Championship as I can, but it's hard to rate when you don't live and breathe it at the time.

Yeah the 2007 team went 16-4 in the playoffs and while the Cavs were weak, the road through the western conference was tough. That team was only 1 year removed from 2006 which was also a great team but ran into a Dallas team that was designed to beat them and was shooting really well.

The truth is it is hard to compare different teams because how do you really know who had a harder path. That's why I guess we should say "favorite" championship teams. As a fan since 1989, I'm just happy to be able to have a debate like this.
