Wtf, so Kidd pulls that BS and the nets still have to pay him the rest of the salary.

. The Nets owe him for the remainder of his four-year, $10.5 million deal ($7.5 million guaranteed), and with any stalemate Kidd could have theoretically reported to work and forced the Nets to fire him, reassign him, or live in perpetual awkwardness

No, I think the author was illustrating what would have happened had Kidd come back to the Nets next year ("Kidd could have theoretically reported to work and forced the Nets to fire him..."). The Nets released Kidd from his contract so that the Bucks could hire him--so the Nets don't owe him anything. In fact, they received a couple of 2nd rounders for releasing Kidd from his contract. Kidd will get his money, but from the Bucks via his new coaching contract--and probably through a promotion after he Game-of-Thrones the rest of Bucks' front office.

Seriously, everyone in Milwaukee's front office should be looking for a new job right away. It's just a matter of time. On a side note: I think JKidd has to be one of San Antonio's best missed free agent signings ever.
