Marion would be great if he could stay healthy but he has a tendency to get hurt. Spending the full MLE on an aging veteran with plaguing injuries worries me. I see him worth half of the MLE but to give him the full MLE seems to be overkill.
Didn't Boris play with Marion before? Maybe he can talk him into joining the Spurs.

Well, looks like the Spurs may get Marion. Would be a great signing and push the advantage clearly to the Spurs. Him nuetralizing Durant is why the Mavs had success against OKC of late.
Come on, Pop, throw your 5 rings on the table
I read Marion wasn't too happy with Dallas cause he wants to continue to start and not be a backup. If he has that mindset, he wouldn't fit in with Spurs....or probably any where at his age.
Another pipe dream.
He'll go where he has a chance to start.
What team could he start?
We should go get Raja and Barbosa as well.
Nets, Lakers and Hawks are three I can think of.
But he specifically said he wanted to go to a contender, not pretenders.
The Nets and Hawks are contenders-in the the wide open East
Even with the Lakers, they almost always find a way to get back into the playoff hunt with a surprising acquisition.
I would normally say no more old farts but Marion would be the exception. He doesn't play like he's 36. And with his minutes managed he could be a solid contributor. Good defender, can hit the corner 3, even with that hideous shot, is scrappy, and an underrated passer. Hope we find a way to sign him.
I'm sure we all remember what he did to us in game 2:

I wouldn't mind the signing, Spurs could use some defensive depth at the 3/4 hybrid position, but Marion was awful last year, he looks almost finished, tbh..
Below average offensive player and average defensive player, at this point..
I keep hearing that Marion is still a good defender, but all of his defensive metrics from last year were average/below average..
Spurs have 2 great perimeter defenders and the rest are average or worse, so they could use another perimeter defender, maybe Marion would look better on defense in a reduced role..
Well, Marion would not be the guy guarding the main perimeter offensive guy on the other team, that would be either Kawhi or Green.
I would love to see Marion backing up Kawhi. And he can play small ball 4 as well.
If we're going to get a dude that can't shoot I would rather sign a young generic 6'7''/6'8'' athletic SF that has at least a chance at developing.
If we can get Marion, I'd be really satisfied with the off season.
Shot 36% from 3 last season and that number would likely go up in our system. Marion will never be considered a great shooter but he's certainly a serviceable shooter at this point in his career.
Besides this thread and what this guy says is this even rumored right now? If not I would not count on getting Marion, even then it's a long shot.
Yeah he's not a great shooter, but some of his stats can be a little deceiving. He has a number of bad season averages when he hasn't taken many shots, if you look at just seasons when he averaged more than one 3PA/Game, he's shot 35% which is just about serviceable. He's also coming off a 36% season, so we're not talking Tony Allen levels of bad here.
