When I quoted the term "Afrodome" I was continuing to make fun of the media coverage and will continue to use it with my friend when we discuss it.

I work with a young men's organzation and I have a group of about 15-20 kids, about half of them are white and none of them talk like that...although I am not sure what "typical whiteboy bull " is. Those kids are respectful to others of all races and that is one thing we as adults emphasize. So I am guessing that your guess of "most" is not necessarily accurate.

You know, I read only the post that are in this thread. I didn't seek out and find where quoted terms come from, and why should I. When I came across your replys, I commented on them. I didn't see anyone else referring to the Astrodome as you did in this thread. Commenting on the black lab as being a "looter because he is black"? That's all I needed to see for me to comment on it! You are teaching those young men the correct way. A good foundation in which to build and respect everyone as equals. I commend you and those that work with you. You're a team of teachers and mentors that will guide those young men into respectful citizens. Good Job once again!

As far as percentages, I can only speak from my experiences growing up in the North East. I grew up in Buffalo NY and went to college in Baltimore MD. Traveled throught the Northeast. From Mass, Conn, NJ, Pa and the D.C/ Va. area. In my experiences I'd say 25%.

The typical whiteboy BS is them saying " I'm not racist because I have one black friend" they they make racial comments because they think it's O.K. because they have a black friend.

I read and wrote quite a bit to educate myself as best I could, but I know I will always be lacking a true understanding. I do understand why you got uptight about it, but your refusal to educate yourself about any context even in these forums -- and your choice not to PM me to avoid the chest-beating this board requires -- lead me to believe that yours is the closed mind here.

In this particular case I know I have done nothing wrong. I will not soon forget what Paula Zahn said and really want to follow up to see if anything else was said about it -- just as I do for "captiongate." I hope that term doesn't offend you.
