Yes. The Lakers thought they could coast with the likes of Rick Fox and win a FOURTH straight le. But they lost and realized they had to focus and regroup.
They did and took care of the Spurs the next year.
Who was the first team we beat in that run?

The Dallas Cowboy's Suck Ass Support Group forum?
at a bunch of wannabe teams trying to hate on our consistency and success.
Face it, no other team in sports have the consistency and level of success as us. We've been in the hunt for 15 years practically every season while most other teams hardly make the playoffs that consistently and burn out on bum talents and have no real championship core.
The Lakers made a joke of themselves as of late. I'll take 5 championships and 15 years of success over a threepeat one time in the 2000s over any of that.
at Non Laker, Bulls, or Celtics fans acting like they can talk the Spurs. Those are the only three teams that can be on the same level of us.
Bbbbut you feasted on weak teams who just 3peated and on their way to a 3peat!!!!
Who's your team?
The Lakers of the NFL.
A sports dynasty is a team that dominates their sport or league for an extraordinary length of time. The definition of dynasty by academics implies a single leader over the bulk of that period, a great example being John Wooden who led the college basketball powerhouse UCLA Bruins.
If 5 championships and 7 finals appearances in the span of 10 years isnt a dynasty, then its an impossible measurement to reach. Salty ass spurs fans
If you're talking about sports in general, Patriots are arguably as good.
Each decade since 1980 had a Dynasty, TBE
80s - Lakers (5)
90s - Bulls (6)
2000s - Lakers (4)
2010s - TBD
I take comfort in the fact that it will forever be Duncan > Kobe
I agree, I think we have become unrealistic as fans. We expect a team to win 6-7 championships within 8 years now a days to call them a dynasty. It's unrealistic in todays sports. While I have a tremendous amount of respect for MJ and feel like he played in a nasty and tough era of basketball from a physical standpoint, it was a weak ass era from a basketball stand point.
No matter how MJ tries to spin it, his Bulls would have been eviscerated had they faced some of the ridiculously tough teams of the last few years.
Diaw leaving the Suns bench to tell Pop he wanted to be here for 5
What a re ed take.
Lol prime but bored
Uh we also beat that championship okc team and griz,
I'm fine with the Shaq Lakers being above the spurs. But to say the gasol Lakers and LeBron heat weren't equally lucky is dumb.
Looks like we have 2000s as co champs since the lack of continuity between Shaq and gasol Lakers makes it two separate dynasty. The latter team of course being not a dynasty.
