I understand but bear in mind Smith had a good game yesterday and Manu wasnt even playing so JR is arguably the best player.

We had SJax in 2012 and still couldn't get it done. JR was on the 2009 Nuggets team that made the WCF, and couldn't get it done either.

I'm a fan of gutsy guys, but there's a lot of BS mysticism around them, tbh... There's simply not a better recipe for success than playing well, as seen last year.
Lmao bad example. SJax was the only dude who showed up in 2012 G6 vs OKC, and should've started at SF if we're being real... He was also the second best player on the 2003 team.

Pretty similar stats, tbh. Considering one had Pop and the other had coaches like Derek Fisher, Mike Woodson, George Karl, etc.

Patty mills can't create his own shot and post up guys in the paint like JR tbqh

Mills is more like a bobby Jackson type player. JR when on is much more lethal

Not in the last 5 years

Point is. Instead of giving out Hispanic heritage award contracts. We should have concentrated on moving Manu for a better piece imo

I still think they should've played together, had the Spurs not wasted some of the money on scrubs like (Bonner 4/yr, Ayres .5MLE, etc) ... I even would've given up fat head for him. Phil would never trade with us though that got.

Weren't the Spurs close to trading Green for J.R last year? As much as I love Smith's game, that was too much.

You want a chronic headache and dope smoking piece of trash over one of the better all around players in the last 15 years. Even at 50% Manu, I'd rather have him over Smith. The guy belongs in Cleveland. For as many games as he hits 8 3's, there are games where he's on the bench for an entire half.

I remember that game, I love Jax. But it's actually a perfect example: he "showed up" and we still lost.

Considering who started this thread, I think JR Smith is going to disappear in the playoffs now.
So true! JR Smith is a chunker and crazy! Dude is nuts to want this crazy ass over Manu! No Manu no championships!

Right, because all he was going to give up was a spot-up shooter that couldn't defend a brick wall and had shrunken-nuts syndrome in crunch time. There was literally no downside, even if he busted. Either way, the guy is no Manu.
Barry played well for the Spurs if I am correct? He bailed Tony out big time in that 05 Finals that is for sure, took some minutes from him and played well when he started to shrink. I remember him lighting Phoenix up as well a few times. I liked Barry.

We cut him because he was intimidating Manu or DG? When your practice players can't push the starters how do you expect to improve?

Exactly. The worst part of it, was he got cut on Manu's worst year of his career. SJax could've took some of the load off him and Pop wouldn't of been forced to guard Mike Miller with Matt Bonner

T-Mac curse was real in 6..

Stephen Jackson was probably one of the 5 worst players in the NBA in 2012-2013, tbh..you could argue that "he turns it on in the playoffs", but we all thought Horry would, too, after he was horrendous during the regular season in 2008, but in reality, he was just finished..there's a reason Jackson couldn't stick anywhere else after the Spurs cut him..

You are correct, he was done. He was flat out horrible that year, shot was way off etc. There is a reason as you said he was out of bball.
