One more note on ex-Magic coach James Borrego: San Antonio likely to emerge as potential landing spot now after Jim Boylen's move to Bulls

Boylen may have been a good practice coach working with the big men, but as a lead assistant, he was a walking cluster . He didn't only forget to put Kawhi back in, he forgot Manu, too, but Manu is enough of a vet that he just went up to the scorer's table and checked himself into the game. I honestly felt that Boylen had slipped to 3rd on the assistant totem pole, even though he was ostensibly the lead. Pop thinks the world of Ime, even going so far as to re-assure him that he wasn't being moved down when they hired Messina, who also seemed to have more favor with Pop than Boylen.

Hope this means Bonner gets on the staff now that there's an opening.

Given how many Pop assistants get hired elsewhere as head coaches and Pop's overall reputation as an all-time great, my guess is that as assistant job with him is highly sought after and there will be plenty of strong candidates.
