Good for them ...but LOL no he wont stay in Portland even though the owner is rich as ...he will go to SA ..and that is fine by me. I also dont want him at the max so that you can take note ... DMC you paying attention?!
Im with El and Amb on this. Aldridge will help bolster the front-court but at what cost? And if he signs a 1 + 1 deal as Cully says it will be with the thoughts of getting a huge increase down the line. I think it is great that the Spurs are now willing to spend as the Duncan window closes but spending on the right pieces is key and I am not sure I Trust Aldridge as a franchise pillar.
I guess what I am saying if Aldridge is not ready to lead the Blazers to a le then you are left with Duncan having to do it again maybe Aldridge will be enough support to do so but I doubt it. I think the 2014 Finals will have the same effect the 2010 had on the key lakers ...they wont win again with this core and I have been the longstanding advocate of dont count out dem Spurs. I think the "nut" was busted in a way that a shot of Aldridge level viagra wont be enough to get it and keep it up especially if they lose the pieces El points to.
This is not the Spurs way ...

With the way things are going, I think it's a lock Lebron James will sign with the Lakers. They will then add Marc Gasol, and LMA, both of which will sign for the minimum because, you know, it's LA, and Kobe.
And yeah, Monroe and Davis. Even though Monroe had below average defensive player through his career so far, I expect him to magically turn into Bill Russell 2.0 because, you know, he's playing on the Lakers. Same with Ed Davis. We saw improvement because Davis played with the Lakers last year, he will improve even more, because he's playing on the Lakers.
That will be a wrap for the Lakers, and they will win the next 5 championships, easy.
I am truly baffled how we can have conversations and you just don't get it or refuse to acknowledge the real point. Blows my damn mind.
I get your point but I just disagree with it. Let me ask you this? If Spurs land LMA does that mean the Spurs are now a FA destination? What if Mavs sign Deandre? After missing out on all their other targets? I just dont think one off-season changes the barometer one way or another. IF we missed out on Pau and Dwight because times are changing ... (Which if you are truly honest how can you factor Pau when the reasons he left had nothing to do with the Lakers as a draw but more to do with the ty way we treated him) is it because Kobe is the cancer that many on here say or could his contract act as a deterrent since teams cant "buddy up"? Arent those factors to consider? Either way my point is you cant make the conclusions you are trying to make when you factor those things in because cir stances are different. If the Lakers had a Pop level coach, and as much cap space as say Dallas and a player was down between us and Dallas and chose Dallas ... then I would be concerned ...especially if FO turmoil was stated as the reason a FA chose another destination. But with the current climate and composition of the team Dwight and Pau are poor examples. Even Melo was never a good example because he was about the money not winning or anything else and if he wanted to win right away why would he choose us? If someone is offered the same exact money and similar situations and choose to go somewhere else that is when your conclusions would make sense. Dwight chose to play with Harden Melo chose the max deal/years. Pau was ed around so much so that he told his brother not to consider us. A
All i am saying is this off season means little for any team except maybe the Knicks tbh. They have the ringmaster, ac oach who carries respect and a a supposed star for player to join near his prime. if they swing and miss you have to question them. Most other situations you need to judge over time and the past two seasons are not enough for me. Next year's FA when Kobe's millions come off the books is where I will judge the FO, not this one.

As long as Tim is there, it might work out. But Tim is only going to be there for another season or two, and I think LMA is not the guy you want to have as your centerpiece going forward, especially if you're losing the young talent you should surround him with. That said, realistically speaking, the Spurs don't have many options, tbh...
On the lakers he just stays his passive self afraid of got kobe and he still gets no where, with the Spurs he learns how win and becomes a leader. the lakers, kobe and you!
