Is Patty even eligible to play? I know some rules and regulations were set up so that if a player wanted to play in the Oceania Championships, he had to first be available for the European tour. Patty wasn't available for the European tour because of his shoulder injury. Is there some type of exception because of Exum's injury?
Was a team rule, this changes that, plus BA presold 20k tickets to the Aussie leg game on the proviso that all our NBA players where playing, first no Mills, then Baynes and Ingles pulled out, now Exums gone, people did not pay that much to o just see Bogut and Delly

What's the motivation for an established player to play international ball? Do they get paid well for the assumed risk?
Parker is one of the top endorsement gets in France. Top 3 in sports. He definitely needs to keep his name in front of his countrymen or lose endorsement money.

Or maybe he wants to play basketball with his buddies and get to listen to the National Anthem on the podium. This is a cynical world we live in, but we should not outright exclude pride as a motivation.

Patty's a bigger man than I. He should have ALREADY been on that roster, but the coach was being a because he couldn't play in the European leg. Said something to the effect that anyone not playing the European leg couldn't play the Micronesia leg. Guess that isn't the case after all...

I just hope Patty is healthy and doesn't get injured playing for Australia before the NBA season starts. He turned them down at first because he wanted to continue rehab this offseason.
