heh my little home would be blown to pieces, I know that.
man this is weird. we're talking about it at work (red cross, at the same time we're helping NO) about evacuating ourselves. talk about weird
Don't be stupid: evacuate your ass ASAP
Throw a hurricanes and margaritas party
Stay there and die. I am GiG. I am insecure and take the internet way too seriously.
Gotta stay. Can't loot if you evacuate.
I wouldn't take any chances.
If you don't have friends or relatives to stay with, forget hotels/motels within 75 miles of San Antonio. They are basically all booked up the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th. I was trying to help someone earlier tonight.

Still planning to stay. We will see what it is like. If we are getting a direct hit and its huge, I am gone. Small and not direct, eh - we will see.
I live in a hundred year old building that I consider safe. It is solid.
Cat 4 - probably boogie to SA or CS. Maybe Lake Charles where I could gamble my way out of it.
I may buy a camcorder to film it.
Got my professional still camera and plenty of memory. (I am actually a paid photographer.)
Seriously that girl in the gif. I have see her on tv? What's her name dude?
I hate you...![]()

Well, I'd probably ride out a 3 at home if I thought it was a solid building. Should be a pretty awesome experience either way.
I'll bring a case of beer and my guitar Tom. You still play?
We can write a blues song about a girl named Rita breaknig a heart.![]()
I think it's time to GTFO![]()
Well my house is allready booked for the rest of the week and/or weekend.
I got 2 people evecuating from Clute - mandatory evac for them, have to be out by 6pm tonight.
And I have 5 people coming here from Victoria - about 75% sure on this. Thier trailer got damaged last hurricane and that was just a glancing blow from a Cat 1. It's on a permant foundation but it had shifted.. and this huge tree 4 feet from the side of the house looks to be rotting in the middle..
So thats 7 guests plus the 3 of us....... oh dear lord. I'm gonna need to be evacuated from my own house with all the chaos that'll be going on!
Still undecided. About 73% of you guys want me to stay so I can drink and loot.
i noticed that. thats kinda not right.i hope they weren't all serious.
but if your planning on looting anyway.... i;d put serious thought into riding this thing out in the galleria parking lot. Be 1st in line ... know what I mean?![]()
That high pressure ridge will determine your fate and there is still not enough data to predict it's movement precisely...if it moves east before they are currently "expecting" it to you will be well and truly ed...looks like this thing could be a 4 or 5 when it hits and by the time you know for sure you more than likely won't be able to get out...
Run Forest, run!
Board up and get out, dude. It's a Cat 4 now. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of laziness.
San Antonio may not be all that safe flood-wise. No drainage plus hurricanes spawn tornados and SA has been hit a few times by hurricane spin-offs, including the Medical Center area apartments and VA Hospital Cooling tower several years ago.
what???
oh crap. why'd you have tell me that???
My family says run, my journalistic instinct says to buy more compact flash cards and a camcorder and go to town.
My parents live on the Northwest side of Houston in Cypress.
Any danger there? I'd like to know if I should nag them to leave.
Better safe than sorry. I dont know Cypress too well, but I dont think it is in the flood plain. However, Houston flooded like crazy in 01 during the tropical storm (Alison?) A few people died.
Not that a tornado would choose that area again, but yes that particular one took the roof off the apartments on Medical Center Dr. near the post office and Wendys. Then it bounced up and then came back down on the other side of Wurzbach and took out one of the two cooling towers of the hospital. It was miraculous that it didn't hit the University (Bexar County) Hospital or VA Hospital main buildings.
Flooding in South Texas is a bigger concern and could be worse than the floods in 2002 that nailed us.
I would leave.
I was in Houston that weekend in 2001 when tha tropical storm hit and they had all that flooding....
anyway. my hotel was on the Northwest side and all the roads around it flooded.. .then the parking garage flooded.... then the 1st floor flooded to about 3 1/2 feet.
that was friday night /saterday morning.
we weren;t able to get out and get home (had to go south on 59) untill monady morning.
I remember that...I had spent the night at a friends house, and we spent the night under a matress just to be safe...very scary
Load up the boozeand the smoke
...and the chick
in your sig and haul your ass out of town
have a SA hurricane party![]()
what ever you decide be safe be smart
oh yeah dont forget the cheez-it's
My storage unit on Westheimer just west of the tollway got flooded during Allison, for what that's worth.
Thats pretty far from Cypress.
Just heard that the downtown business district in Houston is being shut down after today.
Heard where? I will still be able to get home and all. I'll go talk to my doorman and see whats happening here.
From someone who works there. I just had some meetings cancelled in Houston on Thursday as well. Looks like today is the last day of work for the week in HTown.
In victoria too, they're closing down the plants tonight.
