Mine broke off a couple of months ago after about 1.5 years.

Not sure why that would cause it to stop charging....most USB ports on phones are exposed...

dunno, maybe the verizon store lady was swindling me. said that was the reason why my phone stopped charging and not because of the battery. that'd i'd have to get an external charger. i do know that's samsung's way of making it "water resistant" so once it's broken off it's exposed to the elements.

my phone screen was already cracked and what not so i said it and just bought a new phone.

Highly recommended tempered glass screens. You can buy them on Amazon for like $8. They're basically a 2nd screen for your phone. Feels exactly like your screen but gives a lot of protection. I dropped mine and the cover cracked, but the actual screen was perfect.
