Thunder and Spurs, especially Thunder, sounding like favorites to land Anderson Varejao, but field wide open. No shortage of suitors.
I doubt Thunder would be interested, they have a ton of big men.

Spurs missed out on trading LMA for Horford and Korver. Unfortunate!

Cavs have $9.6 mil TPE for Varejao, $947k for Cunningham and should have $2.3 mil left of Haywood TPE @BBallInsiders http://www.basketballinsiders.com/cleveland-cavaliers-team-salary/ …

Eric Pincus ‏@EricPincus 1h1 hour ago The Orlando Magic are back over the cap - by virtue of the Channing Frye $8.2 mil TPE - which they can renounce @BBallInsiders

The Warriors, I'm told, are still in fact-finding mode, but are weighing the pros and cons of pursuing Varejao after he clears waivers.

OKC/Spurs are the LAST team that are going to be pursing Sideshow Bob considering their depth upfront. Assuming that they aren't tanking, the Grizzlies could use him since Gasol is out for the season & he fits their style.

There is really no spot for another player to add into the rotation. Pop is going to roll with Butler-Simmons-Anderson

Next year is a big signing year. Ginobili and TD will.probably retire id they win a ring.

Yeah, I just can't see us adding anyone else at this point. Only chance is if a wing comes along who the FO is confident would be an upgrade over KA/Simmons/Butler this year in the playoffs...and I can't really think of anyone like that outside of maybe Joe Johnson, and I highly doubt he's interested in coming to SA to play such a limited role.

Varejao would be a good pickup in case the front court suffers an injury. Heady player with a good motor. Boban clearly hit a wall and they don't typically ask too much of rookies. The situation reminds me of the Diaw acquisition a few years back.

I think Varejao winds up in Golden St or OKC.

Makes no sense for him to sign w/ OKC considering McGary has been buried on the bench all season long & Collision plays limited minutes. The Worriers could use him since Ezeli is out for a couple of weeks & Speight is trash.......Bogut is also an injury waiting to happen.

Isn't it prorated anyway? They had the exception and would waste it if not used, so it's more like $700-800k. They're not over the tax, so no harm in giving it a shot.

True. Cuban has spent far more money on far worse players. Remember 7/70 for Erick Dampier?
