Yeah, it is pretty cramped, but the food was good when I went last year - and the wine list is impressive. We went when it wasn't that crowded though, and I think that helped.
They have good warm salsa there..
When I worked at brooks we used to eat there all the time.

Go to castorville
La Normandy
No Credit Cards
They will take checks.
Great Menu
No Smoking
Bohanan's next to the Majestic
Better than Ruths Chris
Better than Mortons (very close)
Better than Bandera Bowl
probably the best place in town, get a seat next to the window and have a small wiew of downtown.
http://www.bohanans.com/
Barn Door is damn good as well (not the little red barn) but the atmosphere is probably not what you are looking for.
Dude, I say call up the vineyards and wineries out by Fredricksburg and try to set something up there, maybe even crash at a B&B.
Just go to your favorite place so you'll know what to expect.
The best place to have an anniversary dinner in san antonio is Bohannans, its downtown, you have to make reservations and its the world
The Barn Door, if you like a great steak, but not too romantic.
Ruth's Criss is way over priced and not worth it at all.
Morton's, downtown is much better IMO. Their slow roasted Prime Rib is orgasmic. If you have not been here, it is cool, because they present the menu on a cart rolled to your table and the waitperson displays and describes each menu item in appetizing and entertaining detail....it is not unlike foreplay.
It will set you back about $150 if you have drinks and dessert, but you are guaranteed pussy later.
I would vote Morton's, Sequ....trust me.
Oh, I see you already went there and had problem with the seating. Ask for a table rather than a booth.
Jim who are you referring to?
-Sequ.We've been to Mortons also, its a nice place to, the only problem was it was crowded, we were in booths, which I can't touch the ground when I am sitting, so comfort was a little poor, but it was pretty neat though.
Mortons
Perricos ( i just <3 them sooo much)
Boiling Pot in Austin (dig in, no utensil's elbows on the table... but soooo freakin good!)
these are the 3 places we've gone for the anniversaries we've had while living in this area. I was happy with all of them.
Perricos is good. That new Italian rest. at the Shops at La Canter is good. Its new and very nice. Afterwards, take her to Burberry or something.
I used to go there all the time when I lived in SA in the early 80's. Nice.
Both my husband and I have had to send steaks back at Mortons because they were cooked correctly. Mine was here and his was at their restaurant in Baltimore. When I ask for medium rare, I don't expect it to come out just browned on the outside.
Ruthie has gotten it right every time.
The Alsatian in Castroville is pretty intimate and the price is right. It pretty much feels like you're walking into someone's house to eat.
If you're mentioning all the steak joints, then The Palm deserves a mention.
Medium Rare is basically brown on the out side and red on the inside...its basically only turned over once and your done....cooking it
This was rarer than rare
Since we're on the subject of anniversaries, why start another thread. I don't mean to take away anything from Sequ, but where is a nice hotel in downtown Austin that is going to set me back? It will be our third in a couple of months and wanted to stay in a hotel in downtown Austin for the weekend.
Fig Tree Rest. Downtown...Very good food and a great atmosphere.
I went there on my honeymoon. Beware, I always drink about 5 glasses of tea at dinner in the Summertime. They kept asking me if I want more tea, so I said yes, as always, so betw my wife and I, we had 7 glasses of tea. They charged me for every glass( 2 bucks a glass), the dirty bas s, and I was a poor dental student....so it hurt.
crap. I had the name of this great place right on the tip of my tongue.. now I'll have to look it up.
anyway - rachel ray stayed there on her $40 bucks a day austin edition.
It looked like and awesome hotel , gaurenteed to set you back a bit, but well worth it.
I'll look and [post a link if I find it.
DAYUM!
and that place ain't cheap.. you'd think they could afford free re-fills!!
