Troy Aikman's comments about Skip Bayless were dead-on. For those that didn't hear it, Troy said the following:
"To say I'm disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement. Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless."
What Troy doesn't understand is that Skip Bayless (probably by dumb-luck) stumbled in to a tried and trusted formula for getting TV viewers. You dumb down the content of your show, add a little staged-controversy and polarize viewers by saying outrageous things. You thus gain a legion of fans & haters. Either way, people tune in to support you or hate. I imagine in Skip's case its mostly hate. -- Have you ever seen his Twitter account? It's hilarious. I'll give him this, he's smart enough not to feed the trolls. He would be eviscerated.
The mother er is so annoying its comical. He clutches his cheap-ass pen with a death grip and taps it on the table to emphasize his ridiculous takes. Blind people & podcast listeners who tune-in are no doubt aggravated to no end.
Viewers now have another annoying person to tune in and hate on: Mr. Shannon Sharpe. Although he brings some common sense to the show, the man wasn't blessed with the greatest tools for the job. He has a tongue that is way too big for his mouth and it sometimes causes him to have a lisp. It results in him pronouncing the one syllable name "Skip" as a 3 syllable name - TH-KEE-UP, which he tends to say over and over and over.
