Agree. But with Parker and Manu still on the team, running/calling plays, talking during timeouts, it will be hard for Kawhi or any other young player to become a vocal leader on this team.
Pretty much. Need to bench Parker and tell manu to stop trying to play like hes 25.

The lack of an elite starting PG or a young playmaker on the bench...Two of the many reasons why our backcourt players are Spurs biggest weaknesses.

Really if all he did this offseason was convince pop to play him 36 minutes a game he would be MVP.

A lot of the complaints about things in this thread are extremely nitpicky.

I might incite the Manu fans to get on my case but who cares? Its a public board. Manu doesn't necessarily help our young players if he doesn't defer from now on. Seriously. Not even our bench players, not Dijon, not Kyle, not anybody. Kawhi needs the ball too, but when he plays with Kawhi, Manu does spot up a lot. That is how he got his open 3s out of Kawhi post ups... that's one thing Manu has over Tony. Much better off the ball player, better 3 pt shooter. Tony is just a whole other can of worms. It's like that ironic thread: "what does he do?"

I do look forward to seeing Kawhi as a leader more.

    - With Pau in the team, he needs to work on his Pick and Roll game. Duncan barely got roll calls last year and when he did get calls it was painfully obvious they didnt respect his roll enough so the result was a double. Pau would be a different story..

    - Needs to work the officials. He can't let Timmy work the officials for him. That's embarrasing. Work the officials on your own.

    - Needs to work with Kobe or someone selfish. He needs to be selfish. There's a reason why Pop wants him to workout with Kobe. He needs more selfishness in him. It's his team.

    - He can't stay satisfied. Noticed he start being passive after a good quarter or something.

    - Needs to start being a real Pro and start speaking up against Coach Pop. Timmy was a great player to coach but even from the start of his career..he was a real pro. He stood up for what he wanted to happen in the court in a proffesional manner.

    - Really needs to build an ego to counter Pop. Pop has been ing up the team the last two years because Timmy has lost his game and in the process lost his ability to counter Popvich egotistical approach. That old man needs to realize the game is not about himself.

    Thanks Sir Apalisoc!

Yep I want Kawhi to demand touches, stop being passive and letting Softdridge and Porky shoot us out of the game.
Be careful for what you ask for. Without LMA we go nowhere. Without Phil Jackson, Kobes demanding ways makes them losers just like they were before he arrived.

Parker needed to score, it wasnt ego.

It has improved, but no one has said passing/court vision?

That would be a natural great leap of improvement that would cause opponents endless trouble.

Pick and roll as the ball handler. That's the most effective way of involving your teammates and putting them on places to succeed.

Totally pointless to improve your game if you're gonna keep acting like the Aspergers poster child on the court.

Spurs dont need an elite PG at all
All they need is a serviceable Starting level PG that wont get abused in the west

He needs to learn how to make this team better. He has a lot of empty stats that help him individually but not anyone else on team. He could learn a lot from Anderson, Manu and now Pau on how to read defenses and play offense accordingly. Too many times he's trying to get the rim or post when he misses a drop or kick to open player. When he's trying to get to rim he doesn't understand how pushing the ball to a certain spot on floor can get another player an easy lay in or jumpshot.
Defensively, he should be reaching his peak and should be able to wreak havoc on teams. Hopefully this leads to easy baskets off turnovers.

Ball handling, court vision, passing. Pretty much everything if he wants to be the best. Watch some MJ/Kobe videos and develop a killer mentality. Watch some JKIDD, Magic videos and work on pushing the ball, setting team mates up within the flow of the game to help provide a more fluent offense. Yep he's set the bar high lol

He needs to improve his passing ability off penetration. He can find his shot now. Now he needs to learn to find his teammates.

Thanks for all your comments and insights guys, you are the best!

So sad Timmy is retired but that's life, at least Manu is still there for one last season.......

Hope Aldridge and Gasol come to love our Spurs too, so that we can have another potent big three.....

U do watch spurs games right? He's always lookign to score and attack his defender. It's just sometimes, the ball is in the hands of a particular player that things it's still 2007. I won't say any names.

Drawing fouls. He's great at avoiding contact enough to get a shot off, but refs seem to swallow their whistles when that happens. Work at forcing the contact, which forces the whistle, even if you don't get the shot away. Free throw attempts are better than a missed shot, and getting into the penalty is better for the team.
