So many Muslim countries are giant cluster s (for whatever reason)
ing Erdogan. Back in college I had a ton of friends from Turkey and they always presented it as a very western country, they told me people loved American culture there. All the Turks I knew dressed like Americans, acted like Americans. All Muslim but in the way most Americans are Christian; eg, believing in a god but sleeping in on Sunday. But this was before that piece of came to power. I lost contact with them over the years though, no clue how things are like there now.

I've known a lot of people from there that were very pro-Western. It would be a shame to see that country take a step backward. Very sketchy NATO ally at this point.

ISTANBUL ―Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan landed at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport Saturday morning and declared the attempted coup against his government to be a “gift from God.”

Erdogan called the uprising “an act of treason.” He vowed to “clean up” the armed forces and “eradicate” those who operated the coup’s aerial forces.

So now the Erdogan purge begins.

Maybe his intelligence informed him the coup was likely to fail and that he'd still be stuck dealing with him? ing depressing to see he's going to survive this.

The military went full re with the coup.

First thing you should do when trying to overthrow the goverment is get the ing president and either kill him or secured him so he cant rally anyone.

These idiots even let the media run amok streaming . fail

Even so it would be wiser to just not say anything or some generic "we're monitoring the situation" statement

Yes but many US led coups failed even more miserably in the past. I guess executing a coup is a hard job.

What does that have to do with you, hater, hi-fi, TSA, CC, Mal, S4S, etc rooting for/assuming the coup to succeed?

I don't support military coups overthrowing democratically elected governments, regardless of my feelings about said government, that's for sure. Apparently you do.
