It would be pretty impressive but it wouldn't solidify him as better than Robinson. He'd have a pretty solid case as the 3rd best Spur especially with another DPOY + an MVP or FMVP.
Op is beyond terrible.
Winning one without the GOAT Spurs (Duncan) has a huge legacy implication for Kawhi.. i might say even carrying this team to the Finals will do some major elevation....But KL needs to rack up the numbers for few years (give me a few 40-point games..triple doubles son!!.. etc..) and a league MVP before we come to that discussion ..

It depends on how you weigh post-season vs. regular season.
As far as natural talent and game impact, David Robinson is a far superior player to Kawhi. David really did have GOAT potential if not for his post-season chokes (I really do wish we could go back and look at every one of David's pre-Duncan playoff runs and see if they were chokes, or simply a result of having an average supporting cast. Vinny Del Negro was the starting SG during the Robinson era. Think about that).
David Robinson changed the game of basketball. Literally. Until Kawhi does that, god no.

Like a lot of elite bigs (Duncan included), he had some struggles from the line - late - at times. All in all, his burden was mostly that supporting cast - really unfortunate injuries, as well.
David guarded Hakeem, the Rockets guarded Dave. Because of that supporting cast, that's how it worked with most teams.
Dave could of, and maybe should've, been held in higher regard than Tim. Considerably more gifted physically. He just never developed enough of a back-to-basket game to dominate teams the way Tim could. But ho-ly- ... look at the team success he had, regular-season wins, advancing in the playoffs... it's comical in both how good he was and underappreciated he is.
Or maybe, he was just born at the wrong time. He'd be killing it if he were playing today, and the Mr. Robinson commercials and fanfare would have been eaten up by the media even more.
Great post - Spurs have Manu and Tony and they both have won 4 rings. KL ringing and winning an MVP this year still wouldn't put him in contention with these guys. Robinson with only 2, is still on a different platform.

I honestly don't think the Spurs get past the Warriors unless LMA and Gasol ball out. Kawhi and Green will have their hands full holding off the Warriors perimeter players to give their team a chance. Then you'd have Parker, Manu and Anderson hopefully doing some scoring with Mills and the other bench guys filling in the cracks. It would be a true team victory, and only playerfans would be able to give it to any one player.
Of course, if the series with Cleveland ended up being Kawhi owning Lebron, then I can understand some narratives shifting.

He passes DRob on the court but not in terms of Great Spurs. If that makes sense.
Maybe not even the first thing. DRob was a monster that carried some pretty average to weak teams.
