From a business standpoint i'm wondering how Spurs owners felt about these comments. Obviously Pop is a legend and i'm sure little will come from this, especially a month from now when all thats being talked about is basketball which is how it should be.
But something like politics can get people really riled up, which is already being shown through the protest. But I wonder if something like this could make the Spurs lose some fans over these comments.
SIDE NOTE: i used to use sports to get away from all the ugliness that happens with the country, but now i turn on the tv, i see people protesting the national anthem, questions about politics during the game. Its like ugh, i just want to watch some football/basketball and get away from all this crap and now it seems that I can't.
What I dont get about all the "Trump is not fit" people (and I agree) is that Hillary is not fit either. Just because Trump is not fit, does not mean by default Hillary is.
Shame on anyone that actually supported Hillary as well. Their stubbornness to recognize that Hillary is not fit either, even if it is to a lesser degree speaks to the type of people they are and how far removed they are from actually caring about what others feel/think.
Theres a whole other side to this they just flat out insult with this type of talk even though it's true.
Pop has no problem standing shoulder to shoulder with guys who hook up with teammates wives, commit adultery, being in a league where players beat up on their women, get DUI's.
No problem with supporting a candidate who's husband used his power at POTUS to get blowies in the white house and was the actual physical manifestation of "grab them by their p****". Makes no sense and again he's not wrong about Trump.
if the dem turnout is any indication, then many agreed that she sucked too. It wasn't so much support as it was to keep a bigot out of office. One of the people crying for Obama's birth certificate is now leader of the free world soon. A matter of voting for status-quo and corruption instead of bigoted and dangerous. You'd have to be delusional to think both were unfit to represent the country on an equal level.

I hear you about the need to just get away from all the political noise sometimes, but I wonder how the players feel about Pop's response. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess a large majority of NBA players--especially those on on the Spurs roster--are not Trump fans and have feelings about him similar to Pop's. So, who do you think they would rather play for: a guy who not only feels the way they do about a Trump presidency (and goes on record about it) or somebody who keeps his mouth shut when asked about it?
If the Spurs players and other players in the league trust Pop not just as a coach but as a person and a leader, that's a good thing for Spurs basketball.
