Weird timing to make this thread after the Hawks game. Sure, Tony had two or three possessions down the stretch (espescially in OT) when he forced it a little. But overall, I thought he played a good game. He clearly took more shots in this game because someone had to pick up the slack offensively with Kawhi not being himself. Defensively, Parker is obviously going to be exposed more often than not these days, but that's his age and mileage showing and not for lack of effort.
its funny how people have to post like this... walking on eggs s any time they want to say something remotely positive about parker

2017 and still blaming Parker for every losses
    2017 still not getting it
There's a lot of deflection here... normal for Spurs talk... you can blame Kyle too..

Anyway, Kawhi was coming back from a stomach virus and had a very poor game... that's unlikely to happen regularly so it's not an issue.

OP is not anymore into basketball much tbh... he is just popping up on the board at each time Parker makes a headline

Parker has five games with 2/8 FG and it is guess parker FG% for the season, Parker has then 5 games with 6/10 and it is nothing, then you have the 3 games with most FGAs and it is hero etc etc...

FkLA is still my nigg' his Diaw > Lee was legendary like the picture of his room, the trany porn posts, the Parker sucks in 2012/13... now he is a TOSB catching Parker farts

That's a bit skewed because Portland was so determined not to let LMA beat them (3 FGA) that it opened up opportunities for others including Parker.
Yes! Folks seem to ignore context and actual game action and run with box score #s.

They know this - that is why I kept asking FkLA about his TV and if he watches the game. They are purposely being obtuse (well, not Gammbitt, he just can't see the games well because his bangs are in his eyes)

Wait, are you saying every time Enrique does a heat check it's coming from Pop? He makes one basket and 90% of the time he's shooting it again next time down the floor because he's 'feeling it'. That's not on Pop.

I mean seriously why is Enrique incapable of just being a good complimentary player? If he's playing well he wants to be the man and lead the team in FGAs/usage. His hero mentality is his problem regardless of whether he's playing well or not, tbh.

tbf, both Manu and Tony got benched this season for 'doing whatever they want' and doing it wrong.

There's clearly a shorter leash for both and the onus is on Kawhi, LMA and Gasol to a lesser extent to carry us forward.

Some people might feel that leash is still longer than it needs to be, it's understandable and debatable, tbh

Or just feed the two best players on the team instead of letting the team's egotistical PG play hero.

then you have the 3 games with most FGAs and it is hero etc etc...
At least they were 4 consecutive games with most FGAs than Kawhi or LMA.

They aren't bad people and they aren't liars (IMO) - they just have zero understanding of basketball at even a fundamental level. It's annoying but I dont think they know better.
Well, when your 3-4th option had 4 games in a row taking more shots with a higher USG% than the main guys on the team it's something.

This seems the Spurs norm about distribution shots now and it's very concerning.

That's why I share OP's worries...Can you imagine J.R. taking more shots than LeBron and Irving for 4 consecutive games? Can you imagine that Cavs fans would say that's OK, normal?

Parker was playing great untill the end where he started sucking. There's one play in particular that got me specially mad: when he got switched into Millsap while Aldridge got matched with their two-coloured haired PG on the block. Instead of feeding LA, he forced a shot on the lane against a guy a foot taller than him. That's the kind of you can't tolerate from your 35 year old Point Guard, tbh.

If Lebron was getting egregiously doubled nearly every time he touched the ball, yes, I could see JR Smith taking more shots. Especially if in some of the games they are scoring very efficiently.

Outside of one off's I don't think TP has been taking bad shots at all. TP is playing really, really well lately so Pop is calling his number a bit more. It's working right now, especially with Kawhi out and people doubling LMA a ton (like POR).

I can see JR taking more shots too. In one game. Not in four a row.
LMA was insane-doubled in just one game against Blazers, there is no excuse for Parker FGAs in the other three.

No. It's not 'a bit more' when he had the most FGAs.

And no. We can't say it's working when we lost to Hawks and they beat two mediocre teams like Blazers and Suns in the previous games.

If people criticize Parker it's not like they hate him, at least I don't.

Sure, I'd like to see him in a more limited role, Manu too.
But not because I don't like/love them but because I truly believe it's not a winning formula for the Spurs having Parker with a big offensive role over Kawhi/LMA against decent, good, or elite teams.

If he would have played for LMA instead of looking for his own shot and missed in the last minutes, the result would be different.

I've posted about the same play in this thread. LMA was guarding by Dennis and Parker opted for his own shot.

When Parker looks at Kawhi/LMA with a favorable matchups against a smaller guy, it seems like he thinks he's the guy with the 'true' mismatch against a bigman and opts to play for himself.

But this current version of Parker doesn't have that favorable matchup against good PF/C defenders...He isn't that fast to beat them anymore.

Parker should help Kawhi/LMA to exploit their favorable matchups instead of ignoring them in those situations.

That's fair, i mean, it wasn't like everything was perfect outside TP's last few erroneous plays. If only Gasol gave just a weeny bit effort on the glass or protecting the paint, Pop wasn't so stubborn in not playing Dedmon, and the bench just shot a weeny better %, this game would have been ours.
