Boner finally gone. He'd always show up during games that didn't matter or games in Nov/December then consistently wet the bed after the RRT. Piece of .

I will give him credit for shutting down Spear Chucker when everyone else on the team kept ting their pants against the guy.

Singlehandedly turned around the 2014 WCF by starting in Game 5...

Ok not really, but a great locker room guy, funny as , and a regular season bomber. Peace Bonner!

Retires with a funny video and joins the Spurs broadcast crew so that the fans can see even more of 'Coach B' on the sidelines.
I just can't help but like the guy. Enjoy your retirement, Matty!

So glad he'll be doing analysis for FSSW! A class act and two-time NBA Champion! Thank you Red Rocket!

While #15 isn't going into the rafters (it better not!), I wonder if the Spurs will have a Matt Bonner appreciation night some time this season or next? He deserves one imo.

    Funny video. Classic Bonner

He was always a true professional regardless if he got playing time or not. I'm happy to see that he will be on the broadcast team, just like Elliott, he's good at not taking himself too seriously.

Fantastic video. I'm surprised no team wanted to pick him up as an end of bench guy. He actually still has some game, and helps take wear and tear off any playoff roster.
No one outside of Pop and fans here thought Bonner was ever an NBA player. Well, maybe Toronto when they drafted him but they quickly had buyer's remorse.

He also never took the playoffs seriously.

they retired Avery Johnson and Bruce Bowen's jerseys. There's definitely a good chance they do the same for Coach B.

In Spurs history, Matt Bonner is 8th in games played (632), 4th in 3PTM (656) and 3PTA (1588), 5th in 3PT% (.413), and 10th in True Shooting Percentage (.584). He authored the 2nd best three point percentage shooting season in Spurs history in 2010-11 (.457) and still has the #1 Offensive Rating season in Spurs history in 2008-09 (122.9). He's also 6th in franchise history in playoff games (94).

Matt Bonner was a lot of things (and he was not a lot of things), but he was always ready and did whatever he was asked to do to help the club. He missed a lot of shots (and rebounds) and struggled mightily at times when the bright lights of the playoffs came on -- when he was usually overmatched -- but even when things weren't going his way, he continued to play hard. His ability to step into the starting lineup in the 2014 WCF and then to knock out even a couple of 3's in the hostile environment of Game 6 at Chesapeake was important to the Spurs' last le. He frustrated a lot of people, but was a good culture guy for the club and leaves a positive legacy, at least to me, as he leaves the game.

I suspect he'll do well for himself in retirement. I hope he does.

Just now? I thought he already had retired. Why wait until January? Like we didn't all know he was (and want him) gone long ago.

He seems like a cool guy, but gotta say, I was never a fan of him as a player. There were even times when I felt he drug the team down by filling a roster spot.

@SpurPadre best day of his life!.
No, because he just won't leave the organization. I expect him to do well in this role until May when he'll suddenly begin to fumble lines and mispronounce people's names for some reason...

Doubtful...Renner not only covers Spurs, but also Mavs and others for FSSW.

Sounds like Bonner is going to be doing some of the other studio stuff akin to what Andrew Monaco does now....probably pre- and post-game stuff and maybe the occasional cover for Bill or Sean for select games.
