I just raised it as a possibility. Who would stop them? Trump? Rodman?

You have to take into account that China supports the DPRK because it simply wants it to exist as a buffer between it and US allies. I could see the possibility of China's moving in quickly to establish a true puppet government and telling the west to back off, adding another challenge for the already severely challenged Trump.
True, but China would be hard pressed to force project quickly enough to react in a meaningful way on the ground before a LOT of casualties. This is not 1950, and operational pace would be pretty fast in terms of rounds down range.

The Chinese have just about lost patience with their "little brother". You are right about them pushing a puppet government, but if the US and NK get into it, we have a huge trade surplus to hold over the Chinese.

    Ugly, with a capital UGH.

Actually, I would like to know who you think would stop China from effecting regime change in the DPRK.

If we had any sense we would want China to move in and setup a puppet govt. Quickly destroying a conventional military force we are really good at, rebuilding afterwards not so much. China would be much better at it since they wouldn't be burdened by human rights.

China is no USA. They cant just install puppet governments on a whim like we can.

liberals thinking the North Koreans will give up on Kim Kong like they did with Shillary
You do realize that NK was established as a puppet government by the Chinese, right?

We swept out to the border of China, then China threw a human wave or twenty at our forces there, and pushed back until the armistice.

China would be better than NK when it comes to human rights.

That may well be the plan, and I think we would support it. China and Russia have already moved troops to their NK borders, they don't want NK refugees flowing into their countries. Best to keep them in NK.

True, anything is an upgrade for the North Koreans, but I'm talking about the immediate aftermath. Assuming there is some non conventional resistance effort, I'm not sure there would be especially if it's the Chinese are running the show.

It would be a vast improvement for the NK people. That says a lot.

I just wonder what happens to the Republicans who think that Trump's is magic, when they have to be confronted with President Vroom Vroom's failure to "deal".

How many people will Trump have to literally kill before his base finally gets embarrassed?

No need to wonder, they would win more congressional seats as the regressive progressive base of the Democrats flooded the streets wearing pussy hats and waving pro Kim Jong-un signs.

Are you guys sure China would be so quick to come to North Korea's aid? Trump and the congress could slap a huge tariff on Chinese imports into the US. China needs us in a way they didn't back when the Korean War started. Is North Korea worth it to China in exchange for crippling their own economy?

A very complex calculus. China would lose face if NK fell, and would not want to be seen as weak to their people.

This spat puts their government in a bit of a bind, but at some point they have to weigh that trade.

Not to mention it would likely further embolden Taiwan.

If something did happen, and it won't, it will all be on Trump. His enablment of Kim's rants is stunning in it's stupidity.
