Spurs are going to have some serious and long thinking about Kawhi next contract..Let's be honest, if his tendon issues are chronic, he is simply not worth the Supermax with the amount of games he is missing yearly..

We are talking about a "player unavailability" that's getting close to an average of full 1/5 of a season..
Forget about prior seasons, I hope this particular thing isn't chronic.

Also, this isn't a CIA Pop shtick. If it wasn't for this "careful" approach, who knows if Kiwi would have actually ruptured that tendon?

Pop is such a got. On any other team, Kawhi is back weeks ago and starts playing heavy minutes after a game or two. Might as well watch the Alamo Bowl instead smh.

This season has been the least exciting Spurs season since the '08-'09 season.

I mean people can act like this is a Pop schtick. I see Tony playing sooner than he was expected to, and relatively out of minutes restrictions at this point (if it wasn't for his age, and the fact Patty and other guards would still play a lot of minutes anyways).

I see Danny returning from his injury and only being sat when he really needs it, no minutes restrictions.

I see Ginobili at 40 playing a ton considering his age, when games are close and the team needs him. I only see him rested in legit B2B situations where one expects his body to really need it.

I see Kyle returning from his injury on schedule or slightly ahead of it, and playing no minutes restrictions (his immediate game back he played 24 minutes and in a B2B).

Pop isn't holding out Kiwi in some schitck. He was legit injured with a chronic thing that took a few months to even heal, and is not fully back. If he's reporting soreness, what the heck do you do? Notice that Pop inquires with the player before changing his status from probable to out.

STFU gots. Pop is gonna be judged on if Kawhi reinjures himself. The only ing games that matter are the Playoffs. Not the ing Knicks.

I wouldn't give him the supermax regardless tbh; that stupid was made to sink small market teams. All Kawhi has to do is look at the contracts Manu/Parker/Gasol are getting to realize he'll make up the money he wouldn't spend anyway towards the end of his career.

I suppose fans are frustrated and obviously blame Pop.

if Kawhi reinjures himself then it's season over bc it took him a lot to come back from this injury.

If this guy isn’t playing tonight..he’s even smiling for God’s sake.
Kawhi thought he would play...Not sure if he's happy at this point with this "injury-management"...

Pop said after Dallas and Clippers games that Kawhi wanted to play in the 4th...

It's not a great idea to alienate your best player, Pop.

Exactly... And not only that, all due respect to the other guys, Kawhi is supposed to be our franchise guy for years to come.

It's still like training camp/end of pre season for him at this point. So if the docs said if you feel anything after playing, then he should. Especially after playing a season high in minutes, his body has to adjust slowly.

People just want to blindly complain and about Pop per usual

Maybe "injury-management" is a code word for "LaMarcus earns an All-Star bid" . Gotta keep at least one happy.

Who's reporting soreness? Doctors? Not Kawhi. He was warning up while expecting lo play tonight.

The only way Poop is going to stop is if they fine the team a couple millions for each game missed, under the supervision of a league doctor.

It's really sad that it'll come to that due to the senility of our coach.

Right because it happens so often on other teams. It mustve happened a lot early in Pops career too since he only recently became this big of a got with injuries.

Hes the GOAT but this is just a case of his ego taking over and him thinking he knows better than every other team (who wouldn't take this conservative of an approach).

At the very least they should come clean with the fans and state what's kawhi's injury and what's going on. This bull of calling it off 30 mins before the game is bait and switch .

Maybe he felt something after warmups? He played the 4th in the last game, it's a process...

TD wanted to play many times too and Pop sat him. He wasn't alienating Tim. He helped prolong his career. This was a very different type of injury these guys haven't seen. So it's more about doing what's best for Kawhi long term.

Well, I would try to keep happy the guy who doesn't sign an extensión yet...

I never thought that Kawhi could play for other team but last playoffs I started to think he could do it in next seasons....

A money-contract issue or minutes-management could make him leave SA.

I don't have a problem with Pop being conservative but why even list him as probable if he's on a 2 day rest regimen? Should be Questionable or Doubtful. Sucks for any fans that may have bought tickets with the hopes of watching Kawhi play tonight.
