Why did the league want the 2007 Spurs over the flashier, much more exciting 2007 Suns? Or was Donaghy just fixing games on his own?

League wanted Spurs to go to the Finals in 2014 as a redemption story especially considering how epic the 2013 Finals were. Makes for good basketball storylines.
Are you on drugs? The Thunder got away with a blatantly botched goaltend with 1 minute left in regulation in Game 6 (among many other criminal calls in the 4th quarter) and on top of that benefitted from the largest free throw disparity in NBA playoff history in the 3rd quarter of Game 4. Gtfo.

I didnt really feel like that series was that fixed or guided much. Spurs just had the suns number. And that stupid decision to ban Stoudemire and Diaw for Game 5 helped too.

It was rigged for game 6 but not this game 7. Houston just choked in the 3rd and 4th quarter, they missed like 27 straight damn 3 point shots or something like that. Yes, 27 straight 3's vs a team that has went to 3 straight NBA finals now 4. Warriors didn't do anything special just played the right way to win.

It wasn't stupid at all since the league was enforcing a rule that had been in effect since '95 which was that players can't run off the bench during an altercation. They punished the Knicks harshly in '97 for breaking that rule during the playoffs. Diaw and Stoudemire were idiots in that situation.

This sounds ing re ed. The league is GUIDED, not outright rigged, so a team can overcome the bull reffing if they play lights out. Often the Spurs teams couldnt overcome the reffing, but we were damn good in the years we did (Ex. 2014, we beat the Thunderrefs). We failed to overcome reffing in 2012.
If the NBA is rigged, either

    A. NBA is rigged and owners are complicit

    or

    B. NBA is rigged and owners are victims

Do you think owners are victims of a system they know is rigged, or do they somehow not know what you know?

This is like saying the WWE is fake but the wrestlers aren't complicit.

So the refs knew which game to rig?

Dawg the NBA is clearly a guided product with preference to particular teams. Get real. I have watched this for over 30 years.

Absolutely not. LA Lakers may have known they would get some home cooking more often than not, but the directives come from the top and the owners are not complicit. You have to maintain plausible deniability or the league would crumble. The owners have to feel like they have a shot to win. Problem is, if you are a small market, you have to beat the pants off of an NBA golden boy team to get past them.

Complicit how? I think the refs guiding the games is the biggest factor and the teams know it but actually in on it?
Tbh they could all care less as long as those multi million dollar salaries keep flowing, that is more likely than actual complicity

Think about it,teams like Hornets,Knicks,Nets,Magic,Kings,Hawks,,Suns,Nugget s etc, they remain insanely profitable even though they perennially suck
As long as the corporate welfare buys up all the arena seats as perks for clients/employees the scam will continue.
Though you can thank the insane pricing of every corporate product cause they sure don't pay for the seats, you do indirectly

I used to have access to endless Wizards/Orioles/Caps tix freebies back when I lived in DC,the companies that I got them from used to joke that they couldn't even give em away,on most nights the arena seats from these companies were empty, the more prestigious skyboxes not so much but still room even in those on a lot of nights,ya just had to deal with the few wannabe s who thought they hit the big time in the sky boxes lol,too cool for the regular seats

I think it was rigged that Duncan had to play his whole career in the tough Western conference, and Lebron played his whole career in the easy eastern conference.

That's fair. Another indictment on LBJ. Duncan played in the rough Western Conference his whole career and still won 5 rangs. LBJ been in the East his whole career, losing 5 times. Yet he the GOAT? Pfffft!!

Teams have to play along. Refs only need to miss a possession call, ignore a foul or call the game in a way (even a consistent way) that benefits one team over another. If one team is more physical, they either ignore contact or they are overly concerned with it. A possession change on an out of bounds that never gets reviewed in the middle of the game, that happens multiple times a game. Quite often they get it obviously wrong.

Tonight, if they cheated, the Rockets were complicit. How do you miss 27 consecutive 3pt shots? Even with your eyes closed you should hit one.
yep. even in the lakers kings series. horry was in on it. that's why he decided to hit that 3 at the buzzer

Spurs were the last of the conspiracy-breakers.
so the league has always been rigged, but of all the teams, only the spurs were SO GOOD that they could rise above the conspiracy and win anyway! every other winner was just the result of rigging. how convenient!

It is not rigged, it is guided. NBA clearly favors teams and it can be overcome through your opponent choking or stellar play.

You see a business model and think "they rig their business for the most profitability.. I think I want to own one of the franchises they will over" - Complicit

League would rig for game 7 for additional revenue. You don’t get ratings without some great drama.

If I were the league I won’t care whether the rockets or warriors makes the finals. Both are marketable in their own right. It’s not like they were the nets or Detroit or spurs.
