Uncle Dennis is not laughing Im pretty sure, but this will be the year we´ll see if K- can play 40 minutes per game, and what can he do outside Spurs´ system.
Really hope there's a 30 for 30 on this one day![]()
I think his whole family have trouble with that concept, maybe his dad had the same issue...
If he files retirement papers he can be a free agent in a year. It would be hilarious since he wouldn't get paid a cent for it.
It's really hard to figure out what went south between the Spurs and KL camp- though the more I read I think more fault lies with KL and Co.
I wonder if the Spurs had been more hardline what would have happened? Could they have requested an independent examiner last year or does it only apply during contract years. It really does look like he and his camp screwed the Spurs over royally.
Essentially sat out a year then demanded a trade to a specific team killing leverage.
I get why DeRozan is pissed, committed himself to the franchise longterm and then was traded for a guy who absolutely doesn't want to be there.
According to reports they tried to swap him for Wiggins during last summer.
That's bizarre Wiggins' upside is probably lower at this point than what DeRozan is now.
Here is what the CBA says:
Why would this not mean that KL can never become a free agent until he fulfills the last year of his Raptors contract?Section 3. Withholding Services.
A player who withholds playing services called for by a Player Contract
for more than thirty (30) days after the start of the last Season covered by
his Player Contract shall be deemed not to have “complet[ed] his Player
Contract by rendering the playing services called for thereunder.”
Accordingly, such a player shall not be a Veteran Free Agent and shall not
be en led to negotiate or sign a Player Contract with any other
professional basketball team unless and until the Team for which the
player last played expressly agrees otherwise.
You're right, I was remembering what happened with Jason Williams incorrectly. From the Washington Post:
For one, he can’t simply retire for a while and then pop up on a new team of his choice, at least not easily. As laid down by the NBA cons ution, any player who announces his retirement gets his name placed on his team’s voluntary retired list, and he’s not allowed to play again (or get paid) for one year following the day he’s put on the list, unless the NBA Board of Governors (the league’s 30 owners, in other words) votes unanimously to allow it. If the player wishes to return, the team he last played for gets first dibs on his services. If that team passes, the player would then go through the league’s waiver process, meaning Leonard could again see his reported plan to join his hometown Los Angeles Lakers foiled.
This came up previously in 2008, when guard Jason Williams signed with the Clippers in the offseason but decided to retire on the eve of training camp. He then changed his mind, applying for reinstatement in early 2009, but the Board of Governors voted, 24-6, against him. Williams would end up sitting out the calendar year and signing with the Orlando Magic in August 2009.
Mocking his deceased father now? Damn
That's a fake account, dumbass.
He won't do it, but no way it can be that easy to his employer..
Knew it.. I'm no expert in every detail of the CBA but knew it couldnt be as easy as you were saying
that's hater for you
I want his Uncle to think that's a good idea soo badly.
then kiwi threatens to have surgery to "clean out his knee" or some bull and doesn't have to play anyways
I cannot believe the Raptors actually did this trade. Kawhi is bad news and no one even knows if he will ever get back to his former self after the shenanigans and injury nightmares that went down last season.
Yeah but KL is a one year deal. They shed DeRozan's ty contract and acquired someone to make them look like they are serious about improving, and to remove some heat from them for canning the CotY.
got is not hurt, he held out.
He'll be fine, but here's hoping the Air Canada center doesn't dry the ice completely and we see an achilles tear for the nephew next year tbh
Columbian favela master not knowing that "repot" and "report" aren't the same words.
