I bet the pistons ain't panicking
Are you KIDDING? We only got half a bench, shrimps like Parker are getting to the rim on our vaunted frontline almost at WILL, our legendary domination of the boards is down to a statistical TIE (41.4 RPG for Pistons AND for opponents, and that's AFTER the xmas game), we're giving up over 90 points per game....

Okay, maybe some of us fans are panicking, but I guess the Pistons themselves aren't.

I know people are panicky about the pre-season schedule. So when do we, the intelligent fans, begin to panic?

    Panic? No.

Resignation that this season may be slipping away on Tim's bad heel, yes.

If Tim can't achor the help defense, alter/block shots, get RBs, then the defense is very mediocre. No Tim, no defense, no Spurs.

    detroit only scored 83 points.
Which isn't bad considering they only went to the line 3 times in the first 46 minutes...

If you give any team that big an edge in rebounds, you are going to lose. Both games demonstrated our rebounding problem.

Perhaps Tim's injury makes him less mobile and Nazr hasn't been getting as many minutes as late last year, but we've lost rebounding for sure with this current rotation and squad.

Right now, Detroit is simply better than we are. If we don't improve we will not win the le this year.

    "detroit only scored 83 points."

Enough to blow out the Spurs' risible 68.

It was that pace of game, walk it across mid-court, and half-court at both ends.

They outshot the Spurs 44% to 38%,
    they took 14 more shots,
they got 16 ORB vs 4 ORB.

The Spurs got beat thoroughly, on both ends, like they were the worst team in the NBA. Last night, they were.

Well said boutons. Rember Spurs fans all good things must come to an end eventually.

The good news is that you guys have the ability to get better before the playoffs, the bad news is that the Pistons are out for blood and they will only continue to get better as well.

    Tim Duncan's injured/ineffectiveness ='s the Spurs demise.

Still a little early for the obituary. Pistons are only one key injury from being in the same boat. It is a long season. Hard for me to imagine the Pistons getting better. We shall see. The Pistons sure look unbeatable now.

defense wasn't the problem last night. the pistons were shooting 70% at one point and were down to 44% by the end of the game.

    we're incredibly ed this season

and frankly anything less than a championship is an absolute bust for us

at this rate we may not even win our own division let alone the nba finals!! and for all the folks who knock on dallas, granted they are a ty playoff team and love to choke when it matters, during the season they mostly do take care of business and blow out teams they're supposed to, while the chances of the spurs beating anyone seems to diminish by the week. we only seem to get worse and worse. after a bright spot in the miami win, we've come back to ty uninspired basketball

repeating is not easy, and rarely occurs - especially if your key players are hurting. ours are, and i for one am still happy that we won last season.

Why would you panic after every loss in the regular season?

Panic after losses in the postseason.

That's a little extreme, don't you think? I mean, we're no Detroit, that's for sure, but we're not headed for certain doom either. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, the Denver game was not fun, but the game against Miami was the best one we've played all year, imo. One where the Spurs showed some glimpses of the championship team they were in the finals. Pop is through with his laid back, "I just want them to go out there and play the best they can" routine, and is back to his old Serbian ways. And the role players are starting to show more integration, Tony is having a career year, and Manu is playing great when he's not injured. It's just hard when your two best players have nagging injuries and aren't able to consistently play at the top of their game.

haha its VERY extreme but I'm EXTREMELY pessimistic and pissed at the injuries and lack of inspiration. but yeah that Miami game was definitely the 1st game all year where we showed that when we're clicking we're definitely up there

Repeating is tough but not nearly as rare as you say

every single team had repeated since the 1984 championship except for......Ding Ding Ding! THE SPURS! no surprise there. Detroit was the only the other team since 1984 to not repeat. so repeating is not easy, but all this "dynasty" crap talk looks incredibly premature considering we havent defended our championship even once, and this year doesn't look to be the exception
