If I remember it right- Jerry Stackhouse was originally part of that trade and he mentioned he is going to rest for 30 days then back to dallas after the trade. but the nba disallowed it. They used retired van horn instead
Ah, that's right...I was getting '04 and '06 mixed up.

Going to be a shame losing him from broadcasts. He was one of the few people who was half good at their job.
I swear, that series with the Kings was their achilles heel. It was a physical hard fought series, and it exhausted them. The Kings really took them out of their element. The same thing happened in 08 with New Orleans, and then they lost the next series to the Lakers.
Ben Dover, I'll show you unintentional.
I guess you'll also be showing me the Gay then.
Nice one, chicken strips...
Great news! Brent will be an excellent asset for the Spurs front office and maybe on the bench in the very near future. We've lost almost everyone who was involved in our championships so bringing Marco and Brent back can't hurt.
I'm sure TP is regretting leaving now as he could've stayed in San Antonio to be reunited with his favorite side piece, tbh.
good stuff ... I like Brent!
The excellence of this hire can't be overstated. Great bball mind. Terrific personality. Always felt BB is more than a color analyst.
Exactly. Was always in control. Very admirable how he handled it. Smart too.
Barry's replacing Monty Williams who was Vice President of Basketball Operations.
Brent and TP handled their issue alot better than Derek Fisher and Matt Barnes, tbh.
Brent Barry comes to the spurs the year after wife porker quits. Coincidence? No.
Can't agree more![]()
Glad to see him back with the Spurs. A true Spur through and through.
is this a full time position? if not... give the man a seat next to sean calling games...
Not a spurs fan, but its a solid ass move. I always thought BB had really ing good NBA analysis.
Ah ok thank you for the background. Didn’t know Williams had left.
Actually wondering what this position accounts for in the FO hierarchy other than being ‘third-in-line” behind RC and Popovich.
If I had to take a stab it’s to run the behind the scenes, non player operation.. lots of staff positions listed in the Spurs press release.
Always enjoyed Bones when he was with the Spurs & when he was with NBA TV. He will be missed there, but he always seem to have a great BB IQ, & I'm sure that PATFO knows who they are getting. Heard someone say that Bones doesn't have FO experience, but hey, he has to start somewhere, & VPOBO, may be a great place to start. Hey, if Steve Kerr did it at Phoenix, why not Bones? I'm glad that PATO & the Spurs are hiring one of their own, and he's a good choice for this position. Once Pop decides to step down, will this mean that Bones will move into the role of POBO, or will Pop retain that role only? Hmmm... Time will tell... GSG!!!
tony wasn't with peak back then.
