Las Vegas/ More attractive city for an NBA franchise
Sure, but they would've had the Kings already if that was the only consideration.

When the lease on the AT&T Center expires in 2032 the arena will be 30 years old. I am guessing that the spurs are going to want a new arena built before the lease expires. I think it will come down to a vote to fund a new arena and if they get the new arena they will stay. If it gets voted down then I am guessing that the spurs would look at relocation a city that will fund a new arena for them.

By then, the Spurs could build a new area say in New Braunfels, to draw in the Austin crowd as well as S.A. in 2032 San Antonio and Austin will pretty much be one metro area. That would be a large market the NBA wouldn't want to get away from.

I think the regional model works better for once a week football events than NBA games. Most NBA arenas are in solidly urban areas if not explicitly downtown. If it comes down to it, Bexar County still has some options for the current site since Freeman and/or all those houses could be razed for a new place. It might not be out of the question to keep the old area for rodeo or other purposes. Fort Worth still uses Will Rogers Coliseum even after moving a bunch of to ies.

I'd get out to some games in LV. Would suck for San Antonians though.
