The fact that 6000 people would purchase a book written by Ann Coulter shows that people have too much disposable income.
How come it took you so long to discover this?

I wonder what the real story is behind the picture. I mean, people will show up to meet any minor celebrity.
The snopes article has been posted - it has a little more information on the event.

US anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan hails Venezuela's Chavez Tue Jan 24, 6:54 PM ET

Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan, mother of a US soldier killed in Iraq, joined more than 10,000 anti-globalization activists in Caracas, where she hailed Venezuela's leftist President Hugo Chavez.

"I admire him for his resolve against my government and its meddling," said Sheehan, who gained notoriety when she camped outside US President George W. Bush's ranch last year to protest the Iraq war. She said she hoped to meet Chavez later in the week.

Sheehan was among more than 10,000 people from across the Americas who took to the streets of the Venezuelan capital Tuesday in an anti-war protest that launched the six-day Caracas World Social Forum (WSF).

My government should not meddle anywhere, the "peace mom" told AFP during the march, which was marked by anti-Bush slogans.

We must stop the Iraq war, we must not let it happen again, said Sheehan, who has been arrested at least twice while demonstrating outside the White House.

Tuesday's march ended outside the armed forces headquarters, on an avenue usually reserved for military parades. "It's a peace route now," Sheehan said.

Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, said she would remain in Caracas until the WSF concludes on Sunday, and would address participants on several occasions.

She said Venezuela's foreign ministry sponsored her visit.

Really you are right. Most don't. But you got to show how the left
supports those who hate the U.S. and they play right along with the
    left little game plan.

They really aren't. For all the noise that they make, none have said a
word on how they would protect our nation. They have all the criticism in
the world for those that are trying to protect us, but nothing they have
said would protect our nation. No plan, no nothing. They would protect
all the rights of the enemies of our country, which have no rights under
our form of government. They offer nothing, absolutely nothing. And those
who support the dimm-o-craps on this board have no ideas, except hate
Bush and everyone in his administration.

No I mean someone who has kept this country safe since 9/11. Seems
that you live in the world before that day. Believe me there are those
that are plotting daily to take your, and my, life. I like what Bush has
done and is doing. I just hope he keeps doing it. Any you damn well better.

And this is why conservatives bring up michael moore^^

When bag, rehashed old Farenheit 911 arguments resurface, conservatives point out the Michael Moore man cream on Liberal's faces, and the ingrates have the nerve to wonder why we keep bring him up when they speak.

Wow, it's rare that gtown doesn't make some kind of gay reference, I'm shocked.

How, and in what way exactly did your post change the fact that Bush CHOKED. Bringing up Michael Moore doesn't change the fact that it happened. But nice try. In fact it was worse than just 7 minutes.

Bush didn't just wait seven minutes the am of 9/11 reading to kids, but 20 more at a photo op afterward outside the school.

27 minutes your President blew in this nuclear age. But we don't wanna talk about that do we? A true leader he is, right?

Wasn't it Bush who told us that a missile could reach us from overseas in just 45 minutes? And Bush, the Commander in Chief blew more than half that time not knowing what to do while or country was under attack. Mark of a true leader in a time of crisis, when the country needs him the most?

How can anyone defend any President for that? ANYONE who can defend a President, Democrat or Republican for choking like that in the most important critical time of crisis and state of emergency is beyond obsurd and inexcusable in every possible way. It's disgusting and not respectable and never will be.

The Commander in Chief is supposed to be prepared to MOVE and REACT when the country is under attack such as when buildings and US citizens are burning, when planes are being flown into buildings in Washington and New York.

The President is supposed to REACT and MOVE when our country is under attack because His whereabouts were NO SECRET whatsoever and if an attack on him were planned, He could have put ALL the children at that school in GRAVE DANGER for Not reacting.

What could we expect from him anyway? Besides, he ignored the CIA briefing that warned him of this whole thing to begin with. So then, after This MASSIVE Choke job and SEVERELY CRITICAL FAILURE, he goes and bombs and attacks and kills and starts a bloody, unjust bloody massacre against a country who had nothing to do with this in the 1st place and THOUSANDS, both Iraqi's and Americans are dead with their blood on His hands.

His actions and mostly inactions on THIS matter alone, he should be impeached and thrown in jail. Wiretapping? Yea right. People are dead. Then stays on vacation for four days while the city of New Orleans is dying. When I thought he couldn't choke any worse on 9/11, he outdoes himself with four days. Wow. It's just amazing. Great job Bush. What a leader.

Face the facts. Bush Is No leader. Bush is NO Commander in Chief. Nothing can change this. He choked and sat there like Forrest Gump.

Well just to bring back up about Mother Sheehan, found this little article. Wonder
why the media is so shy as to talk about this Mom.
    ================================================== ===========

Pro-military mom silenced by mainstream media
    By Todd Manzi

    Mar 2, 2006

A grieving mother of a soldier killed in Iraq wants to voice her opinion. She has a message about the war in Iraq and feels the American people need to hear what she has to say.

Her name is Merrilee Carlson and her story is compelling and newsworthy. Unlike another mother of a fallen soldier, Carlson is not a household name. Her message is exactly opposite of the over-exposed message of the well-known protesting mom.

Regarding the war in Iraq, Carlson says, "We have to take a step back and look at what we have asked our military to do. We have asked them to do a job. It doesn’t matter how we got there. The fact is we are there and we have a job to finish."

Carlson began trying to get her message out last August and September. She didn’t like what was coming out of Crawford and felt the need to correct the record.

In the last couple of weeks the organization that Carlson chairs, Minnesota Families United, has been in the center of a controversy that, by any objective reasoning, should have made national news.

Minnesota Families United teamed with Progress for America Voter Fund and produced two television spots. Minnesota was used as a test market for the spots and PFA made a rather large statewide television buy. The ABC affiliate in the Twin Cities market, KSTP, refused to air the spots.

The decision not to air the first MFU commercial was made by Rob Hubbard, General Manager. His objection was over two lines in the spot:

    1) The media only reports the bad news, but American troops are making real progress
    2) You would never know it from the news reports, but our enemy in Iraq is Al Qaeda.

Hubbard’s position was that those lines did not apply to his television station; therefore, he would not allow the spot to run. Hubbard says he would have run the spot if they edited it to make it clear they were talking about the media in general, but not KSTP specifically.

It is certainly understandable that Hubbard is worried his viewers might get the wrong impression. After all, the reason these spots were produced in the first place is that these families of our fallen heroes believe millions have gotten the wrong impression regarding the progress our soldiers have made in Iraq. Still, the question remains: Do these families deserve to have their voices heard, or should they be stifled?

This debate is not happening, because this story never made national news. To recap: In an election year, a group used Minnesota as a test market for a possible national buy and one of the prominent stations took the position that the spot should not air. Maybe this didn’t become news because of the hypocrisy of the industry. They often try their best to protect themselves from the type of stories they inflict on others.

    The news hook gets better.

On Thursday, February 16th, the Chair of the Democrat Party in Minnesota called on all TV stations to pull the ad. The top Democrats in Minnesota want to suppress the message of Carlson’s group.

Merrilee Carlson was born and raised a Democrat. She doesn’t like politics and she wants to make it clear that her group is non-political. So, the Democrats in Minnesota are trying to suppress the message from mainstream families who have suffered the loss of their children from the war in Iraq. Why is this not news?

That other mom was a full-time, anti-war protester for more than a year before she came up with the PR stunt to go to Crawford during the president’s vacation. The media accepted the stunt and gave her message enormous coverage. This prompted Carlson to take action for her message. Now Carlson is in the middle of legitimate news and the media is silent.

Have we come to the point where it takes a stunt to make news? Merrilee Carlson is thoughtful, sincere, professional and respectful of those who disagree with her. Not only does she have the exact opposite message from the spectacle in Crawford last summer, she has the exact opposite approach. Regarding the efforts of her group she said, "This isn’t about us. We are not looking to be that public figure; we have stepped out because of the need. This is not about us, it is about our children."

Obviously, the mainstream media is going to do everything they can to avoid Carlson. They are not interested in balancing her view against the anti-war view they have so heavily promoted. We already knew the media was liberally biased. Now it’s apparent they are also biased against ordinary people as well. The foaming-at-the-mouth fanatical fringe gets news coverage and the people who portray the best qualities of us are ignored.
