I think Sidy is safely within the last 5 roster spots.
The scrum for the end of bench seems to be between Malaki, Wesley, Mamu, Bassey, Sidy. The two way Ingram and Minix.
Sidy led the Summer League team in +/- and led the preseason team in +/-.

You don’t say. He’s a glue, a connector, can do a lot of things well, just not shooting![]()
Yeah, I like Sidy but if you post his shooting numbers it looks like a non NBA player
His contract next season is completely unguaranteed. They will simply waive him after the season if there is no real progress this year.
Sidy just waived by Wizards. As they say in life if you get waived by the dregs then it’s prob the end of the line for your career no?
Wouldn't be surprised to see him come back to the Spurs. Because he was traded to another team after the Spurs moved him, he should be eligible to re-sign.
I would think that would be hilarious but probably won’t happen unless pop comes back.
The Spurs have two open roster spots. I assume one will go to a center. But the other is basically free. They haven't even really used their two-way players so far this season.
I hope they bring back Sidy, even if only in Austin. I’d like to keep him in the pipeline, at least in the immediate future. I’d also like to see him get another chance at summer league.
Yeah, I think he can definitely play for the Austin Spurs. Then sign him to a two-way next season. If that's possible.
That is possible, yes, he is effectively a free agent. It’s just a question of whether Sidy would be willing to do it versus potentially more lucrative contracts in Europe. It would make sense for him to do it though for stability purposes (he was already playing in Austin right before so it makes sense for him to stick there for the remainder of the season). And it also keeps him in the Spurs’ developmental pipeline and gives him another chance at summer league.
The downside of course is that he would be doing it under a G-league contract instead of an NBA one.
If Sidy wants to go to Europe for the money, I would be willing to waive David Duke (we already have a glut of guards) and sign Sidy to his two-way spot instead (to give him more salary).
I'm confused how we missed out getting Valuncias since we had Cissoko and way too many SRPs ourselves. Why couldn't we have just thrown in some other player, even Duke, on the deal w/Kings?
Bring him home! Give him gone more season to develop his shot. Thats the thing holding him back
Sidy wasn't matching salary. They used the MLE for that. He was just a guaranteed contract the Kings were able to get rid of.
Why? Let him go. He isn't very good.
Keldon replacement. If (big if) he can develop the shot, I think he can play that role off the bench down the road
90% chance he doesn't amount to anything, I agree. But there is that 10% chance he turns into something, and it wouldn't cost us much to see if we could hit on that 10%.
If anything Sidy is a hard worker. He left home early at 13 yrs old to pursue his basketball dreams. He’s missing a consistent shot, but can rebound, excellent defender, pass, high motor and excellent character. If anyone needs a 2nd chance, it’s this kid and continue his development.
I don’t know, I think if we had thought he had any chance whatsoever they wouldn’t have just thrown him away. I had actually thought maybe the Kings wanted him lol
No holding players because they are Nice character guys. He doesn't appear very quick and is awkward in the way he moves and has no shot. Not strong in any area. Spurs already have enough players who need work on their shooting.
This is just a case for you of liking him because he is a former Spur.
Have to let go of former players to move onto better players.
Is he a player you would want to get had he never been on the Spurs??
I was hoping he would have a chance in Washington but they didn't even want him.

No, Keldon is better.
Cissoko is terrible, we wont be good enough for Euroleague.
