Good chunk of hip hop in the 80s/90s didn't have much of that, tbh
It's not racist but equating carjacking and various criminal assaults to an expression of opposition to the state and then backing it up with violence is pretty damn fascist. For the fascist, state is unimpeachable.
Of course the crimes he labeled are stereotypes of ghetto culture too but there is at least plausible deniability there.

No doubt about it, it's funny what people think is intrinsic.
Also around the time the DJ took a backseat in hip hop groups as well.
I think that's a worthwhile criticism of the song. Not just because he lives in a gated community now but also because the song doesn't reflect small town/rural life in America at all. Like rap, country music has lost the culture of the genre.
yeah, they just don't do perfect country and western songs anymore...
For your part of the rural community maybe, but if you do not think that there is not still a lot of good ole boys in gated communities in rural counties you are fooling yourself.
The Murdaughs in Colleton County show the south still has plenty of that going on.
Steve Goodman and John Prine were treasures. DAC wasn't too bad, either.
Brings back fun memories of Nuevo Laredo before you had to worry about the cartels.
Aldean has defended his song and video in the face of criticism. The video depicts images of Black Lives Matter protests and other unrest being projected on the building as Aldean warns of what would happen if similar scenes happen in small-town America.
It is racist because it posted pics of black live protest !!!!!!
This song has such cringey lyrics lol. Should make the lyrics about trying get a real job or eat anywhere besides Dairy Queen...try that in a small town![]()
Here I fixed it.
Get your teeth cleaned by a professional.
Marry someone your same sex.
Learn high school level science from someone who doesn't think the world was created by God 6000 years ago.
Get treated for breast cancer.
Get a safe abortion because you're 17 and your uncle raped you.
Show the common decency of not going out in public when you may have an easily transmissible disease that killed a million people.
Be Jewish.
Try that in a small town.
Actually, the posted vids were from the Quebec student strike in 2012. In Canada.
Is it racist to blame that violence on BLM protests? Probably.
They were the ones protesting and using the pictures that were in big towns
They call them Black Lives Matter
Using their own words they use is racist ?
English, please
The song is a dog whistle for white supremacy and the video is extremely racist and hurtful to foundational black americans.
It's funny that you think that what a BLM protester says and your interpretation of it are equivalent.
This thread reminds me of this song
It's just "Okie from Muskogee" again
How is Aldean spinning the use of the courthouse where the Black man was lynched in 1927?
Hmm, watched the vid, and read the lyrics. Lyrically, it's just good ole boys and we don't do this city type of in a small town bs. Trust me, there's violence, B&E's, drug use and a litany of other "small town" issues due to economic issues as well. Still, the song is fine for what it its. The video, if interspersed with Jan 6th imagery coupled with BLM would be a coup for Aldean....too bad they chose to only show the one side and make it political, even if that wasn't their intent. Also, he didn't even write this song.
Honestly I like this generated song better
Small town with no crime and people look out for each other. Also I have a gun and will shoot you dead if you try anything.

Verse 1
A small town, yeah that's where I'm from
No crime, no need to run
People look out for each other
We stick together through the tough weather
Chorus
No need to worry 'bout a thing
Cuz we got each other and we got the means
We got a gun and we won't hesitate
We'll shoot you dead if you try to infiltrate
Verse 2
A sense of security in our town
The bad guys know they better back down
We'll take care of our own
We'll protect our home
Chorus
No need to worry 'bout a thing
Cuz we got each other and we got the means
We got a gun and we won't hesitate
We'll shoot you dead if you try to infiltrate
American white cucks protecting the precious hoodie, nike & mask boys per par tbh
There is a relatively new guy on the music scene with a dumb name but he is pretty damn good. Check out Jelly Roll. Dudes interesting. Kind of combo country, blues, rap and rock.
