one thing can be said for sure: trading away the #8 pick has increased the chances that they use and keep the #35 pick.
(might not mean that much, if they already decided not to use a 2nd rounder)

I was always high on Pelle Larsson, if the Spurs would consider drafting an old player at all.

does a bit of everything, plays hard, plays defense, good size for a guard, good athlete, might be able to defend 1-3. is he the 2024 Austin Reaves?

and Antonio Reeves. he is just to good a shooter, he should get a close look.

for whatever it is worth, this are the available players the Spurs had in for workouts:

    T. Kolek, P. Larsson, A. Mitc , J. Shead, A. Reeves, E. Freeman, K. Johnson, T. Newton, T. Flowers, B. Ellis.

I've pretty much lost faith in the spurs brain trust. Seems like they have a bunch of zoo chimps running the show now. Expect a trade or a 2 for 1 give away. The 24 teams drafting after us have noting to worry about. We won't steal their player.

Spurs have picks 35 and 48 tomorrow.

Who are some of the guys that are leftover that might make sense at either of those picks?

There are a lot of players that I've heard mentioned on these boards by various posters. Some of the best available guys include:

    - Johnny Furphy
    - Kyle Filipkowski
    - Adem Bona
    - Tyler Smith
    - Tyler Kolek
    - Bobi Klintman
    - Kevin McCullar
    - Jamal Shead
    - Melvin Ajinca

Who are you hoping we grab at 35? 48?

This of course assumes we don't trade either of these picks for a 2079 Top 66 protected (projecting for league expansion) 2nd rounder.
I’d kind of count on 35 being sold, and maybe 48, too.

Thanks for this. I assume they didn't have Flip, Furphy or Smith in because they expected all those guys to go in the mid-late first round. Furphy seems like he fits exceptionally well and just needs development time.

At 48, take the NC State kid.

I have no idea what to do at 35 now that Dillon Jones is gone.

The Washington State kid moves and shoots like Primo. Jaylen Wells. Wright would draft him if he is there I think.

I've got no clue about any of these second round guys, are there any viable wings with a solid shot? Either that or a high-energy backup big for Wemby.

Castle/Tre and Devin/Branham should be the guard rotation with Wesley trying to stay in the league and Champagnie also being to able to play at SG, but we're re really thin at forward positions and desperately need some shooting potential.
I can't see another guard being drafted unless we're making some trades and sending Tre away.

The only other option is to get a backup big if Bassey's knees are shot.
Collins is always an injury risk and my #1 priority to get rid of this season.

For pennies on the dollar to compete for a roster spot. And you can tell them to off if you don't guarantee them.
Yeah, that so much better than selling the pick for $2M.

2m lines the owners pockets. Doesn’t do anything for the team. If you need to sell picks to have a compe ive budget there’s a bigger underlying issue

You understand that we’re a small market, right? We don’t have the MSG network like the knicks, and while half of the problem with the defunct St. Louis Sprits has been solved, we still make less media money than everyone else but the other ABA merger teams.

the best possible choice is to draft Bronny with 35 and bring his Daddy in to mentor our scrubs sans-VW for a couple years

Whatever the Spurs do it will be under the radar.

The Second Round doesn't even happen in prime time this year.

Maybe the Spurs will be more in their comfort zone.

Trading #35 for lesser 2nd Round pick(s) makers little sense unless your roster is stacked. The Spurs' isn't.

Jamal Shead gives off Avery Johnson vibes. Undersized but a natural leader. Scrappy on Defense. Knows how to set up the offense. Won’t back down. Unafraid in big moments.

Tyler Kolek can ball. Not an athlete at all but a gamer type that can pass, shoot, compete his ass off.

Outside of those 2 I would rather the Spurs just draft shooting. All the 2nd Rnd Bigs are projects and I don’t really see any of them as better than Mamu or Barlow should they return to the Spurs

Hard to see Furphy slipping past Utah and Portland for perhaps obvious reasons.

My two way targets would be Ulrich Chomche, Blake Hinson, and Antonio Reeves. I'm hopeful for two of three of Furphy, Ajay Mitc , and Quentin Post with our SRPs.

Should trade the 35 and 48 for the 30 or 31 to get someone halfway decent for Austin. Spurs already have a bunch of young guys, the second round is for the g-league.

I know your joking, but if all 1st round snubs get snatched, spurs need to do this! at least to use as a trade piece. F@ck the Lakers!
