There are very few cases where trading quality for quan y works out, not just in the draft but in general. The one that worked out, from the top of my head, was Webber for penny, and Paul George for SGA plus a bunch of picks. The other cases were all cases where players were mostly trading for big names that were on the downhill of their careers (Pierce and Garnett, those cp3, Westbrook and harden trades that I’ve lost count). In this case where it’s youth for youth, the higher draft pick is generally better, and in the case of Harper, he is such a highly touted player that it wouldn’t make much sense to trade down. Again, back to the 93 draft, was basically the only exception but even then Webber had the better career, even hardaway came out of the gates blazing but injuries derailed his career. Of course if the magic actually kept their picks and got fuller, vince Carter and Mike miller they would’ve won without a doubt.

The Spurs have only brought in one lottery level player for a visit in San Antonio. The other guys were either not lottery level or didn’t workout in San Antonio. All the other guys they only met with at the combine or did private workouts somewhere else

I don't know if I really believe that report. I believe he's the only top-of-lottery guy they brought in, sure. The Spurs are also extremely good at keeping under wraps who they have come in. We usually never know until after the fact.

So yeah Dylan Harper is the only consensus top talent that has really come to San Antonio.

I agree. This is not really reliable sources since it’s not coming from the Spurs. It’s possible other guys have been in under the radar which is smart. No info is coming from the Spurs at all. This is all deep twitter and internet searching. I’m just relaying what I find. Not the end all be all.
