Also possibility of injury, or stock going down.
Interesting takes...
If I'm Cutler, Leinart, or VY, I hold out and re-enter next year's draft. There is a possibility that these guys could double their money by waiting for the uncapped year...
Also possibility of injury, or stock going down.
Not that I agree with sitting out a year, but unless they played Arena football, how are they going to have a high risk of injury?
I thought he meant stay in college 1 more year. What is the minimum contract rookies are allowed to sign in the NFL?
That's the thing. This year there still is a rookie cap. Next year, the number can be whatever the two sides negotiate...
Minimum salary will be a little more than $230,000(last year's #) this year. In an uncapped year, there is no minimum...
From a financial standpoint, why sign a bad deal this year when you know next year could be a windfall for you?
If no CBA is reached, expect long holdouts for a lot of teams this year...
I think the only one of those three who could have stayed is Vince. And he has an agent now.
So . . . if they're willig to live off just endorsement money for now, sitting out a year may get a big payoff.
On the other hand, if it works out to be a capped year like every other, they may screw themselves.
There is no limit to terms under 6 years, which I believe is the max. Most 1st-3rd RD draft picks sign 6 year deals. This year, it's only 4 years, which limits the amount teams will be willing to offer in SB money and add to that half the teams are in serious cap trouble...
The deadline is tonight at 10 PM. If no agreement is reached by that time, 2007 will be an uncapped year. If an agreement is reached after that, it will not take effect until 2008...

Young's stock will never be higher than it is right now. Every day that passes he slips a little further toward where he was before the Rose Bowl.
Young is what he is. The reason his stock soared after the Rose Bowl was because a Texas win meant it much more likely that he'd enter the draft.
The agent for that QB out of Vanderbilt likely is the one spreading the rumors.
Dear Vince,
Why the haven't you fired your "management team" of family members and friends, and hired some real professionals to represent you? This stuff in the media is taking millions of dollars out of your pocket RIGHT NOW.
This has been going on all week, yet I see negligible evidence of damage control. Vince is letting rubes run his business. The team that drafts him is going to be licking its chops come contract time. Can you say "Ricky Williams/Master P?"
To be honest, is a 16 really that much more impressive than 6 when 10 is the adult literacy line?
Well, 19 is the NFL average, and 16 is what Dan Marino got. So it doesn't really stand out as a terrible score the way a 6 would.
Exactly. All they'd have to do is say something like "We can offer you $20 mil guaranteed, but if you'll take $5 mil then if you meet these performance requirements we'll give you $75 mil or whatever".
I LOVE you too gts...BUT, you should not use my images to project your thoughts like that! SHAME ON YOU!
Well, Marino was like the fifth QB selected in the draft. Besides, how many super bowls did he end up winning?![]()
Well... it's official... Vince Young DID NOT score a 6 on his first attempt...
He scored a 7!!!
