some of u guys are a joke.....Nuggets got OWNED by the refs, TD gets any call he wants.......Manu flops and the refs fall for it........

just coz u lost, u blame the refs and you use the same excuses that u get annoyed at other teams fans for doing, hypocrites

    go MAVS!
Duncan does get a lot of calls. It ends up working against him usually though. 1) He's not very good at free throws and 2) He becomes more focused on getting fouled than scoring.

Well, as long as it's interesting. That's sports. Congrats for tonights win. But it's allready a yesreday's news. Looking forward to playoffs. I still don't see any team out there Spurs couldn't beat at their home. But No1 seed is still there waiting for our team to take it too.

All of you who think we would've won the game if Bowen saw more of the 4th Q, please re-watch the game. Melo was flaming Bruce. Bruce was not the answer and what probably Pop was looking for was more O.

I cannot believe our best option on offense is Timmy from the top of the key?
Pop took out Bruce because of foul trouble and kept him out to improve the offensive chances. Excuse me, but without Bruce's defense, there was no need for offense. We were not going to out shoot them, we needed Bruce in the game on Melo and shutting him down.

I know they were tired, but they looked pretty damn good in the 3rd to look that damn bad in the 4th.

How any more back to backs?

Was the last game in Denver the 2nd of a back to back?

Seems like we get some pretty crappy scenarios on these back to backs.

Like when we were in PHuX and the Lakers were waiting in SA for us to get there the next night. They got to rest in our town.

We get stuck flying into Denver in the middle of the night to play these thugs the next night.

Oh well, we will prevail and become 4 time NBA champs.

If Bruce's defense doesnt work ... what is our answer? Mike? Brent? Manu? or just give up.

Had the Spurs hit more of those wide open shots, converted FTs, played better transition D and contained Carmelo better - they would have won the game.

Sounds like a lot I know.

i think bruce did a much better job in the 3rd on melo, but then the refs stepped in... then again i was just listening to the game in bed after halftime and couldn't see what was going on, only hear the denver announcers.

There was no reason for Parker to be out there in the fourth. Miller typically has a good game against Parker because of the size mismatch but Parker has been able to make the Nugget pay on the other end of the floor, but last night in crunch time he couldn't finish at the hoop, he made a couple of bonehead passes that turned into fast break points going the other way, and his jumper wasn't falling. That big backcourt was a big problem for the Spurs. I would have liked to have seen Manu or Barry running the point and kept Bowen out there. Carmelo was having a of a night, but at least with Bowen out there he had to work for the points. Finley and Barry were just getting embarrassed when they tried to cover him.

And WTF was going on with Nazr? He played like absolute during that first quarter and yet Pop let him play every single second of it. I understand that Rasho probably wouldn't have done much better, but I don't see how he could possibly have done any worse.

It's simultaneously frustrating and uplifting to think that despite all that the Spurs were still in the thick of it until the last minute or two.

Right, because we all know that we would have our perimeter stopper sitting on the ing pine down the stretch of a playoff game with four fouls
from the way Melo lit up Bowen tonight I dont think it would have made a differnce...but you go ahead and blame this on Pop if it makes you feel better

I just cant understand why pop didnt give the ball to manu in the five last minutes. he was shooting well and he should have taken more shots. When spurs did it manu scored five straigh points but i think that was late, because the game was already OVER.

I think Pop didn't want to risk Manu, the nuggets were playing too hard. Anyway it was the rebounds what killed us. Clutch Manu will be back in the playoffs.

Yes, but he is still a human being, thus he can make mistakes, as he had yesterday.

This is actually one of the more tame threads I've seen when it comes to bashing Pop's coaching. For the most part it's been clear that the criticism has been strictly of last night. There hasn't been any, "He always does this stupid " or "Pop's overated, we should have gone after Phil Jackson" or cries to rally a lynch mob.

He's easily one of the top five coaches in the league, he just didn't act like it last night. Who knows? Maybe losing this game was part of CIA Pop's master plan.

Who guarded Melo most the game? When Finley came in the 4th Melo was already 11-20 shooting. Fin looks dumb because Melo scored 8 points in almost 9 minutes play on 3 shots by Melo but was he getting lit up before that?

Bowen guard Melo when ever they were both on the floor. Melo got off to a hot start and hit his first three shots, all jumpers, with Bowen on him. Bowen was busting his ass but Anthony was just having a good night and had 16 at the half. Bowen did manage to slow him down for a while in the third while the Spurs climbed back into it. All in all, Carmelo did well against Bowen, but he made Barry and Finley look silly. The Nuggets clearly made it a priority to get the ball in Anthony's hands whenever Bowen was on the bench.

Reasons for the defeat (in order):

    1. Need more effort rebounding the ball. Tim, Nazr and Horry should have been more aggressive.
    2. Subs ution patterns were bad. Even with 4 fouls, I would like to see Bowen on Anthony.
    3. Run the offense through Manu down the strech. He got subbed around the ~8' mark for a breather, and got back in with ~5'30" left. The first ball he touches again was with ~1'50" left. In the meanwhile, the Spurs had 2 baskets, 5 misses and 2 turnovers. With two touches Manu gets 5 points.
Nothing to worry about though... let's hope they start the game with more energy next time.

It's not even the loss that pisses me off it's who we lost to. George Karl is a hypocrit, the front court is loaded with punks, but their fans are what pissed me off the most. Yeah it's an opponent, but at least show some class.
I just love how the announcers said the crowd was cheering the good block. Bull , they were cheering because Manu was layed out on the floor. I'm pretty sure had he had to have been helped off the court they would have stood and cheered some more. Nuggets have to have the worst fans in the NBA. Guess they get all their cues from ThugMart.
