I sure as hope so.
Props to Argentina. They were the better team today, meaning they won fair and square (refs had no incidence).
Props to Manu. He has a monster game.
Props to the rest of the Argentine team in general.
This will bring about changes in the way the US approaches international basketball.
I sure as hope so.
Agree 100% Whottt.
If the US had to loose the gold medal to someone, Id rather it had been Argentina.
Great summer for Ginobili!
Gold medal shot, married, new big contract.
BTW
Hope Pop was paying attention at how to play Ginobili and get him more points.
Quote: "We need to overhaul the way we run our national team, the coaches need to have more input into the players they get and the players need to be commited to it.
This team had the decked stacked against it from the beginning and the rest of the World has gotten too good to half ass our Olympic team. "
Agreed Whott. I've been saying this ever since 2002, when Team USA lost in the World Basketball Championships (a compe ion, mind you, that the other countries take a lot more seriously than they do the Olympics).
Until we start to mirror our process like selection is done for soccer, we will continue to struggle in international compe ion.
This is a bittersweet day for me. Manu outdid himself. With the last second shot against Serbia and today's performance. Manu showed some big time cajones today. Propz.![]()
Go USA!
Manu is such a class ing act.
His post game interview ruled, was nothing but class, he didn't rub it in, or talk trash you gotta be happy for the Argentinians. I'm sad team USA loss after all but the fact that Manu gets to play for the gold makes it easier to take. You can see how much it means to him in the interview.
I just wish we could get to play ing Spain in the Bronze Medal game to give them another ass kicking.
It's weird...the USA basketball team loses every 16 tears since 1972...must have something to do with having a republican president.
"Dude...the minute we get to training camp....."

congrats to manu and his team...the argentines deserve to rub it in a little...just a little :wink
They can rub it in all the want. They assembled a great team and played their asses off.
They've never medaled in basketball and now they have a shot at the Gold.
Rub it.
Nazis? What are you talking about? Montecchia, Oberto, Scola, Sanchez, Ginobili, Delfino, Nocioni, WOLKOWISKY, HERMMANN, Fernandez, Gutierrez, Magnano, Sconochini.....hardly see where can you find a Nazi there.
Someone asked about what was going on down here, well, it's a party all over the streets, and it's just one of the few times than a sport other than football (soccer for you) gets this kind of reaction from the people.
What city do you live in?
Congrats Fizzzar! You told us it would happen and it did.
Get your azz out and go celebrate on the streets. What are you waiting for? Just don't burn down anything.
Major props to the Argentina team and all its fans. You deserved it and it's awesome to see Manu carry that team.
Go win gold.
3 Arroyos, 100 miles from Bahia Blanca (Manu's, Pepe's and Montecchia's birthplace)
Great to hear Manu had an outstanding game--first time I've ever bothered to check an Olympic basketball score!! Wish I could have watched it. The Olympic b-ball games are only a quick fix until the season starts again (still going through withdrawal)
Good luck to Manu and Argentina! Just don't get HURT!!! Your day job is here in SA!
Timvp, I'll celebrate on the streets tomorrow if we win the gold.![]()
Today I'll just throw a party at home.![]()
P.S.: If you can, I'd love you to post an analysis on the Argentinian players like you did about a month before. I want to see if we agree this time, I promise I'll try not to be me when I read it.
Fizzzar -- he still doesn't like Scola![]()
I don't blame him. Luis had his worst game of the tournament. He was trying to do too much and ended up doing very little.
Okay, I'll have a write up.
P.S.
My grandfather was from Argentina and played on the World Cup soccer team's in the 1950's. I have a lot of relatives in the Buenos Aires area ... so party it up down there.
Hats off to team USA....
I still think those bull calls were a factor....
to all the argentianans..i hope i spelt that right.
congrats and go for the gold tomorrow.
live it up.
i hope the USA can shock the world in germany in two years btw.
Iceman, WTF?yeah well they're all descended from nazi's. so we have that on them.
Yeah, I've posted this on the previous page, but it was lost since it was the last post in that page...

Not my fault if you don't know your history

Oh, my....you're mixing your cards way beyond your knowledge, Peronist party was never a fascist party while at power, it was a populist party, mixing center right and center left fractions, but no way it had a fascist or racial motive.
In fact, the workers were the ones who took the best part while the Peron's spell, so that should be more like socialism...
And this is gone way off topic, sorry
Don't worry, Shiner, Iceman never lets anything as mundane as the truth and facts get in the way of a juicy post... just one of the many reasons we love him so much around here...
