I burned all of my teenage poetry. I couldn't risk someone finding that considering teh fact I'm going to teach English.
no!
You know what I would appreciate if you would all stop making fun of me.
Midge, you honestly pick on ppl weaker than you? YOU COWARD!!
Bling, I'm sorry about your mom.
Faded, if you think that owning a 14/15 year old is a good job then you really need to get more backbone and morality.
So if anyone else cares of making fun of me then post it now.
Midge, she called you a coward. You going to just take that from her?
Wow there's lots if insults here
Simply said it's quite
Don't mock what one holds dear
For it is replied with a sneer
So let's just all have a beer.
midget would not approve of your rhyme structure
Teens cut because of deep-seated feelings of not being able to measure up to family expectations - sometimes even their own. This is also where the desire to run-away comes from. When your an adult and your parents go into one of their 'measure-up tirades' you can tell them to off and mind their business, but when your a teen, your pretty much at the mercy of their criticism because anything else is smarting off. If left bottled-up, these feelings can manifest into even more destructive behavior later in life.
Writing poetry is a creative outlet for those covert feelings, certainly much better than cutting. Usually, as teens mature and they fit into a comfortable role in their lives - their own place, their own money - they discover that their feelings about their own inadaquecies which led them to cut were largely undeserved.
Writing is a much more positive form of stress relief than actually harming yourself. So if you get your feelings out by writing, no matter how dark the feelings are, then it can be a positive thing. When and if you are ready to talk to your mom, you will. Hopefully it is sooner rather than later. I think you would be surprised if you shared some of these writings with your mom. As the mom of a 14 year old myself. My first reaction would be to hug my child and see what I could do to help. And then get us into therapy. The simple fact is your mom doesn't realize how much pressure she is putting on you and you need to find a non confrontational way of letting her know. But remember that at 14 you think the world exists to revolve around you, at least it did for me. You are still part of a family and as such, you have to pull some of the weight to keep that family running. So a certain amount of stress is expected. No-body's life is completely carefree. That's why we find stress relievers. Just reach for the positive ones. Mine happens to be drawing.
Keep writing.
I find to ryming structure flows well
