    If Duncan is healthy: yes/yes

If Duncan is not healthy: no, the Mavs can beat them, especially if they wind up with the HCA.

I'm seriously beginning to worry if even Parker is going to be 100% by the playoffs, as carrying the load all season is starting to take its toll on him.

It's the easy way out to answer yes/yes in this forum, because if you are right you get to shove it in the others' faces and if you are wrong then you can just claim that you're a better fan and the others didn't believe enough. I guess that means a Knicks fans who doesn't answer yes/yes doesn't believe in his team either.

Seriously, it's like people who doubt the Spurs chances of repeating are hounded as this year's "T-Park's" and not considered "True fans" I can't stand that...it's just someone's opinion.

And I agree, Parker has not been looking that good since his mini-hit/sprain/whatever it was. The thing is, these recent games Spurs have been losing...they would have won earlier in the season when Parker was playing at a higher level. If you think about, we've had many games where Duncan and Ginobili haven't played their best against good teams, and we'd still managed to win them.

A good question is do the spurs have what it takes to win it all, the answer is yes. Will the Spurs win it all, not sure. And really the Spurs weren't playing that well when they went in last year. Duncan had foot problems but was contributing more than he is now. Basically if Duncan and Manu can't find their rythms than the Spurs may not even make the Finals.

Horry guarding Nowitzki would've allowed Duncan to guard Dampier, and guard the rim more, shutting off that penetration.

Who is gonna beat them in the west Ex come on......
Dallas could. Not saying they're going to, but they could. These are NOT the Neliie-ball Mavs.

Even when Duncan was on Damp/Diop, he couldn't protect the basket. The PF has robbed him of the quicks/hops neccessary to be our "goalie". In addition, when he tries to go for the block, the reduced lift makes it neccessary to catch the ball ASAP, which means jumping towards the shooter, and he's getting more fouls called for body contact. We have two people who can protect the paint on this squad: Horry as a help defender, and Rasho. Nazr is ing useless. Even Oberto, who isn't a shotblocker, seems to know where to be, and plays good positional defense.

I've actually been thinking this for a month, or so.

I think there is a BIG difference between those who recognize that this might not be our year, and those who disgustingly tear down and insult the players because deep down, they recognize the same thing, but can't deal with it in an adult, rational manner.

Are you trying to say that you don't want NJ in the finals???

No, I'm saying that it's not tragic that the Spurs aren't playing well right now because no team is playing that well in the league right now outside of NJ.

Ex and 1P1, I think you guys have valid points and I certainly don't think its a lock that anyone wins the le this year. Thats a given at any piont for any sports team in any season.

I just think that a weakend Spurs team can still compete. I don't think they are going to steamroll anyone, but I think they have by far the best chance at the rings of any team not in Michigan. If Duncan plays the way he was last week, then I think they have an easy road to the Finals. Manu had turned it on big time lately as well.

Seriously, last year was even more precarious with an injured Duncan throughout the playoffs. I'm not worried.

You're right, about one thing Manny. A weakened Spurs team will still be able to beat compete and beat out any team in the West 4 games out of 7...including Dallas. It wouldn't be easy, but I still think they could do it. I was thinking more about the Finals against a certain team from Michigan...they'd need to be really healthy for that.

I'm amazed at how many people seem to think the Nets will beat out Detroit in the East. To me, it's like saying the Suns will beat out the Spurs in the West. I just don't see it happening, despite their current (well not anymore actually) win streak.

Of course I will come back and eat my words if you guys (i.e Kori, Timvp, Jim, EHJ) turn out to be right, but I just can't see it.

I still think Detroit comes out of the East, but I'm still picking the spurs over them in the Finals in 7

I still think that Detroit comes out of the East too. But I think NJ would make it very hard for Detroit considering how well they played them this year. My assessment of Detroit-NJ has nothing to do with NJ's winning streak, but rather how they've played the Pistons in their 4 matchups this year.

Spurs will make finals but it will not be an easy run with at least one 7 game series.

Spurs will beat Pistons if both Duncan and Manu are able to play all games and it will take at least 6.

Believe me, I'd LOVE to be proven wrong.

The two BIG series, regardless of HCA, will be the second round and the Finals. Both of those are very dangerous series. What I didn't like seeing last night from a VERY smart AJ was the amount of single coverage on Duncan. Detroit did the same thing. If Tim doesn't force the double teams, either series will go the distance and could be lost.

Of course they'll make it. We all know by now that it's a completely different atmosphere once the playoffs start. Now, I'll admit, I'm skeptical about them beating Detroit in 7 when Detroit gets HCA, but if they get to the Finals, i'll be happy.
