I simply don't believe the Cats are at the point where they are looking for an old guy like Barry. Had Barry showed any real leadership here I might see the point, but if the Cats are spending money on anything, it'll be on youth.
The edge of spending money on Barry instead of spending money on a young guy is that he is a two year investment while a young player will be a 5 year investment and they will need money in two years. For them, it's basicly being better now without handicaping their future.
Anyway, I understand what you say and there are reasons too for Charlotte not to take Barry. I just think they have more reasons to do it than not to do it.

You might be right. But they have an awful lot of kids on that team, and teams usually like having a mix. Barry isn't a born leader or anything, but he is a good citizen who can be a little more dependable than a lot of kids are.

HAving said that, they might not want to take on his contract when they could find a cheaper veteran or two out on the market somewhere.

This will be the first year the Cats have the full cap to work with. They will likely either spend it on a max-type player or sit on it until they find a buyer. They don't have to worry about Okafor until 08.

    Realistic?

We sign a couple of scrubs
    Lose Nazr
Worst of all: we are still stuck with Raaaaaaaaasho
Agree with this. I don't expect any draft day trade to move up. Or any trade to get JR Smith. Rasho will still be on the team and the players they add won't be better than the players they lose.

All I know is if the Spurs don't get a good rebounder who can also play in small ball, next season is over before it starts.

Drew Gooden? He's a little inconsistent, but he's a great rebounder when he feels like it. He's not exactly Dan Gadzuric, but he can run the floor pretty well for a big man. When the Griz had him, they thought so highly of his mobility that they played him at SF a bit.
