FWIW as an interesting side note for discussion's sake, the ESPN story reporting the Jackson signing notes that BJax's agent, Andy Miller, is also Rasual Butler's agent. Not that it's a dramatic change in the landscape, but Miller reportedly thinks it's unlikely that Butler will end up back with the Hornets. For those who have beaten the drum for Butler, the opportunity to get him may have improved.

Miller, who also represents Rasual Butler -- another of the Hornets' free agents -- said it's unlikely the 6-foot-7 forward will re-sign with the team. Butler led Hornets regulars in 3-pointers (92) and 3-point shooting percentage (38.0) last season.

Speedy needs to get a grip. Unless he goes to a place like Atlanta he's going to be second banana. And he deserves second banana money.

Butler would be nice, but I'm pretty sure he's going for the money..I wouldn't want to dip into the MLE for him...if there were a way to do a s&t, say, Butler & Macijauskas, or Butler & JR Smith for Barry, then I would be for it...another possibility(all be it a slight one), would be for NO to be interested in Nazr(they are thin at the C position)& do a s&t with Nazr..

Probably not the right thread but since Peja and Jackson are reuniting I wonder if Pollard is next?

    Holy !
Sources say the Hornets paid $17 million for three years for the artist formerly known as Bobby Jackson — which hurts the Suns in a couple of areas.

The market for Speedy Claxton, Lindsey Hunter, Jannero Pargo and even Eddie House just shot upward. And if Jackson is worth $5.7 million a year to back up Chris Paul until he gets hurt, what will Leandro Barbosa’s camp ask for this summer?

Two other things it probably means:

    1. The Hornets might have to renounce Speedy since his unrenounced value could eat into their offers to Jackson and Peja - especially if they want to keep Butler. No S&T with Speedy in that case.

    2. The only way they get a decent vet SG is through a trade.

^^ 3. Claxton will cost something like $31M/5 years : way too expensive for a backup PG who is injury prone.

That, in a way, is good for the Spurs, cause that might make teams like Phoenix and Dallas back off a bit.

...but he's a very talented player who has explosive athleticism and can play the playthe 2 some despite being 6'3 because of his freakish wingspan.

Isn't Barby the guy we picked for Phoenix, instead of picking Josh Howard. Good move FO.

Mavs woudn't be interested in Claxton unless they don't get Mike James... which is entirely possible. Suns are probably too cheap to pay for Claxton.

3-year, $17M for Bobby Jackson is just wrong. The Hornets two ex-Kings signings have been classicly overpaid.

$80M for two guys were last good three years ago?

    Nice.

Yeah, $17million for Jackson is just ridiculous. He's so not the player he used to be. The Mav guards were able to take away his outside shot in that 1st round series cuz they new he didn't have the speed or quickness to drive by them. I saw games 1 & 2 of that Memphis series very close to the court and I was shocked at how far he's fallen compared to his prime. Not saying that he wouldn't be a decent pickup but not for that much money.
