Then the Spurs are stupid for keeping him this long. The only reason I give a about the guy is because he's wearing silver and black. Either play him or move him.
Because T Park, of all people, is always all knowing of all things.![]()

They can't just move him, somebody has to pay for him. If they waive him, he still belongs to them. He has a guaranteed deal.
Are you his agent or something? Beno sucks.
His handle. His decision making. His defense.
He may yet develop into a perfectly solid backup. But I think the Spurs need to go into the season with a plausible fallback at the very least.
man someone gave speedy claxton 25 million dollars? the spurs are so ed this offseason.
He was the Spurs best PG in games 3-6 of the 03 NBA Finals
Parker had three points and two assists in game 6. That's not saying much.
You don't honestly believe that there's no team in the NBA that would be willing to give up a draft pick for him. Like I said, it's way past time to or get off the pot for the Spurs.
I agree. So he had a streak of steadiness in the 2003 playoffs and was a reliable backup, I just don't think 6.5 mil is worth it. No way.
Wasn't Parker extremely ill that game also?
But anyways was Claxton being paid by the Spurs to play for NO last year cause Foxsports headline says..."Hawks to sign point guard Claxton away from Spurs"
I would've been quite pleased if the Spurs had landed Claxton this offseason but Spurs fans make way too much of his 2002-03 season. He missed 5/8ths of that season too.
I would have liked it myself. But not because of what he did in 2003, but how well he has played the past 2 seasons. He has been a very solid PG who is a good playmaker and defender. A perfect third guard for a championship calibur team.

Game 3
Tony Parker: 26 points(to lead all scorers), 4-6 3p, 6 assists.
Speedy Claxton: 4 points, 0 assists.
Spurs Win
Game 4
Tony Parker: 3 points, 1-12 FGA, 4 assists.
Speedy: 10 points, 3 assists.
Spurs Lose.
Game 5
Tony Parker: 14 points(second on the team), 4 assists.
Speedy Claxton: 3 points, 1-4 FGA, 2 assists.
Spurs Win.
You were saying?
I want you to explain that statement...
And the stats don't indicate everything either...in game 5 Parker had an absolutely miserable first half, and game back very strong in the second half, seemingly having figured Kittles out. And was a huge part of that win. Definitely moreso that Claxton who only played about 15 minutes.
In game 6...Pop never went back to Parker in the second half, the Nets were electing to leave Speedy wide open, they were even leaving Kerr open...and Pop chose the path of least resistance.
Speedy was only a contributor to one win. And it was really only a half, as Stephen Jackson started to take the game away from them.
Thank you for saying Speedy was the best PG on the team in games 3-6...Including a game in which Parker lead all players on both teams, in scoring.
Like I said...Speedy is the most over-rated player in Spurs history. Thank you for proving my point.
@ Whottt. Well done.
Tony Parkers' Game 3 against the Nets was one of his best games ever. Nobody ever mentions it. His 3rd quarter was incredible. Your little recap just then brought back those memories of Jack smashing those 3's too
Anyway, Claxton is far and away a better player than 2003, that's why I think he would be a fantastic 3rd guard. He has developed a nice jumpshot out to around 20 feet, which is about 10 feet further than he had with the SpursHe will fit in nicely with the Hawks and there young and quick talent, if he can stay healthy of course.
Damn.
Well good for him, he's getting paid. He already has a ring, I guess he's not too hungry for another one.
