    Sixers are idiots

PS Should I expect Angel_luv to move here permanently if Beno is traded?

Dalmebert makes a TON of money($10M/per yr). Hunter doesn't ($3.3M per), and have you seen what is available out there? Hunter would definitely get paid more than what he is now if he were a FA now.
Yeah this is an absolutely terrible era of Centers. Just think 10-12 years ago we had 4 centers (Pat, Hakeem, DRob, Shaq) who were members of the 50 greatest Players in NBA history all in their primes. Now the best center in the league is an aging fat Shaq, who's maybe 60% of what he was when he got schooled by Hakeem 10 years ago. So in this era Hunter is something to do cartwheels about.

hopefully this puts the spurs in a position to steal a long 3 or serviceable big man in a 3-4 team trade involving iverson...

Maybe we can get their second round pick Bobby Jones who is supposed to be a 6'7 athletic, defensive wing player.

But... I thought no one would want Beno- just like no one would want Rasho.

Someone explain, though, how they would want Beno bad enough to take Beno + Oberto for Hunter.

Hunter would be a nice fit.

Parker starts and gets his 36MPG and Barry slides over for 12MPG of backup PG.

Exactly how I've thought it should be, and how I thought it would be after the 2005 Finals.
I wish, but even if Beno got traded, the Spurs would still continue to try to trade Brent.

I wouldn't trade Beno and Oberto for Hunter. Hunter is even worse then Oberto on the offensive end.

I saw Hunter play here in Orlando for three years and he sucked big time. The Magic had high hopes for him but after three seasons they gave up on him and traded him to the Cavs I think. I know he's improved since then but he's still very raw in offense and is a horrible free throw shooter.

I'd rather keep Oberto and Beno. And Javtokas is comming here and Hunter and Javtokas are very similar players. Both are athletic and tall and limited on the offensive end. I don't think Pop and R.C. have given up on Beno. He should be our backup PG next season.
We don't need an offensive force at center. We need a rebounder, a shot blocker, and someone who will clean up the garbage on the offensive glass.

Hunter is perfect for that role.

Is there really any chance they really want Beno badly enough to give us Hunter for Beno and Oberto? That sounds completely insane on their end.

Excuse me - has anyone addressed that we're trading away our only backup PG? Is this not a concern?

Not if we sign someone like Pargo.

People seem too invested in sending off players, here.

We're all pretty happy about trading Barry, too, supposedly our best trading commodity at this point -- it's either one or the other.

I am not really thrilled with the idea of trading Beno. I thought he started to turn the corner there late in the season and played pretty good. He is not making any money hardly. He seems as if he is a good teammate. I am not interested in absorbing 4 years of Steven Hunter who is just the same type of player Rasho and Nazr are. I am still holding out hope for a deal that nets us a player like Magloire so we can go out next summer and get us another star. I don't really like the idea of adding a guy just like Javotkas, I'd rather go get a 3 before that. We still have possibly a rotation of Duncan, Bonner, Javotkas, Oberto, and Horry (who I want to trade) at the 4/5.

Udrih + Oberto for Hunter would be a bit underwhelming. And it does remove one candidate to handle backup point duties.

I have the feeling that giving up on Udrih now would be a mistake.

Oberto is a far more intelligent basketball player than Hunter. All Hunter seems to have is a better shooting percentage - when he shoots - more NBA experience, better shot-blocking, and a longer contract for more money. He also has the virtue of being young.

Udrih has skills to be a lifelong backup point in this league, despite our being sour on him. Maybe not a championship caliber backup, but that remains to be seen.

Do we want to jettison these two guys for a marginal center like Stephen Hunter?

    against houston he sucked
therefore he did not get playing time
he can not bring the ball up underpressure
he is like stephen jackson in that reguard
points need to handle the ball
I was for trading beno for jr smith
but now it seems beno may have more value

We'll have faith our Plan B isn't CJ Watson, then.
