Jasikevicius and Peja won`t play. Slovenia most likely will have 3 other NBA players. S&M will have Milicic, other than that I think they don`t have any other current NBA players on this team.
Didn`t Marks retire from playing international basketball?

Funny how for some, FIBA started sucking after the Sydney Olympics in 2000 (more specifically after Indiana 2002).
I think the problem a lot of people in the US have with FIBA is that it is a fairly different style of basketball from the NBA, which is what we're used to and what we like.

It's not the fault of FIBA -- they're an international body, and they have the right to set their own standards, but it's also not the fault of the NBA -- the NBA has been around since before FIBA started holding world championships.

Hopefully, the NBA and FIBA will get together at some point and try to work out standards for how to bring the rules and officiating closer together. If done right, a consistent set of rules for basketball would be good for everyone.

Another problem is that, regarding the rules, the NBA has dicovered the perpetual motion.

People harrass European players when they talk about having to adjust to the style of play in the NBA, but there are always excuses as to why NBA players can't adjust to FIBA compe ions.

I think it's just a fact of life both ways. It's frustrating that players can't just come over and play NBA ball, and that some players' games don't translate well, but it's silly to blame the players as long as they're doing the best they can.

Somebody needs to explain to me what Duncan didn't adjust to while being whistled for not touching guys on one end and being gang-raped with no whistle on the other. Seriously, people. I have a hard time believing anyone is stupid enough not to have seen that. Yes, the US team had problems, and yes, Argentina played GREAT against them, but please don't tell me that Duncan's inability to avoid foul trouble is because he's too stupid to adjust to the international game.

The US played terribly in the Olympics, but if people don't think that the officials took their most dominant player out of almost every game is at least a factor they need their ing head examined.

Fiba and NBA won't find a common language, since noone can assure NBA won't change it's rules withing the next season... changing the dimensions of the court, or 3 pointer distance itself would represent enormous costs throughout the world... that's why Fiba won't adjust- because they can't afford to, while NBA won't change some rules that make bball more attractive neither.

Your trippin buddy. Duncan got killed on moving screens (which are not called as strictly in the NBA). Contact in the paint isnt as strict in FIBA, , Marbury broke Oberto's hand and a foul wasnt even called.

Lets see Duncan has been playing in the NBA for ages, gets superstar calls... of course its going to be difficult to adjust. Not to mention there are fewer fouls to give. You have a situation where in the NBA duncan is barely touched with his back to the basket and its a foul, while moving screens and so on are practically ignored. meanwhile in FIBA contact under the basket is ok but illegal screens and over the backs are more strict.

And I believe Pero's point was that Duncan, while a great player (best in the world for the past 5 years IMO), does have weaknesses and if he cant defend dirk under NBA rules, why would you assume he can guard anybody under different rules without getting into foul trouble?
