I think Butler could be a lot like Diop in that he could come out of nowhere and surprise. He definitely has potential. He'll likely score more than Diop in the low post. Don't know about rebounding as I haven't seen enough of Butler to form an opinion. They're not really similiar players, but playing next to Duncan can only help in Butler's maturation as a player.

Matt Bonner is already a decent 3-point threat and he could really thrive in a small ball halfcourt offense due to the penetrating skills of Parker and Ginobili, plus Duncan's low post presence.

Elson can run the floor and is decent with his mid-range shot. Not much of a rebounder though, offensively or defensively, but is a solid defender that should be a decent fit.

What I'm saying is that all three play the type of basketball that fits the style the Spurs like to play. All three should do fine now that they're surrounded by a solid nucleus.

I would hope he has more offense than Diop. Diop has got NO offense. Diop really isn't that great of rebounder either. He's just a really good defender & decent shot blocker.

Who is over-rating Terry? He is what he is...a decent, offensive-oriented point guard on a good team. I haven't read or heard anyone on Mav boards or this board say Terry is a superstar (not even an allstar). Same with Harris...I haven't read or heard anyone say he was an allstar. In fact, I've read more negative things about Harris & his future with the Mavs than anything else. He really only played well for a few games against the Spurs cuz Parker & company thought they had to guard him close for some reason(plus...Parker was hurt). The Suns & the Heat realized he wasn't that great of an outside shot and took away his penetration. In fact, the Spurs really had him figured out by the last 2 games of that series. Go over to a Mavs forum and you'll see that everyone is just wondering if he's gonna become a decent PG or not (i.e. the jury is still out). That last post, the guy was telling it EXACTLY how it is in regards to Duncan & Dirk. He said Duncan is a great player with 3 rings and Dirk is a really good player who'll hopefully reach a comparable level. Maybe you should "THINK" before you write. You may hate the Mavs but don't distort the facts and/or make stuff up to try to make an argument. There are plenty of facts that you could use to back your hatred for the Mavs. They're out there...use them
I suggest you read everything before you comment. He said that the Spurs are old, and they are beginning to decline. Who is one to say the Spurs are declining? Duncan had a great performance this year in the playoffs. Decline? That is the most funniest thing I have heard in a long time. He also said that TP has reached his prime. At 24, he has reached his prime? At least you acknowledge that Terry is a good player. About Harris, I am not going to waste my time. You stated that hopefully Dirk will reach a comparable level. Don't you get it, they are completely different players. One is shooter and the other is a post-up player. Don't compare the two! It's like comparing Jordan to Miller. Please read before you comment...

I agree....They will be a good team, but I believe they blew a golden opportunity. They had the Heat right where they wanted them. Even though the Heat won, I still think the Mavs were the better team. The Heat were just able to match up a lil better then the Spurs. Looking forward to '07!!!

well yeah they blew an opportunity...the opportunity to win a championship...but no one can say that dallas wont make it back to the finals when they still have theyre core intact and have polished theyre bench significantly...

o and im up for trading harris anyway if the right deal came along

Well Dallas is good, but a polsihed bench does not always turnout to be a productive bench. It's just that teams will know what to expect from Dallas and the west is so f'n tough right now.......

FYI, I can't do anything about that. Kori or timvp can, though I think timvp occasionally creates an open thread for folks to request a change.

FYI...you can't change anyone elses' but you can change your own

I think the Heat were the better team because they have a bona fide superstar in D.Wade and another in Shaq. Nowitzki can't match two superstars and the playoffs are all about your stars coming through.
