amen to that.
Bill Hicks IMO wasn't as nice as the Rogan beat down.
Rogan seems pretty funny. I just started listening to XM Comedy 150 UP yours and have discovered some funny as comics.
They really need to start a website where you can click on a comic's name, and download his CDs.
Pay for them no problem, but be able to download em and what not.
amen to that.
It's true, But unlike you, I need all my fingers.
Do I know you?
I was perusing the latest issue of Radar that I got in the mail and there was a four-page story about joke stealing.
Apparently Robin Williams is the most notorious joke stealer. At the Improv, they used to have a red light in the back that lit up when it was time for a comedian to wrap up. If it lit up and started blinking, that meant that Robin Williams was spotted in the house, and pack it up so he wouldn't steal your jokes.
Apparently, they have a less sophisticated way of stopping Mencia at a different club that he is notorious for stopping by and ripping jokes. Instead of a red light, someone in the booth just shouts out "Mencia is here" or something to that effect and the comedian on stage quite what he is doing.
Interesting article, I will see if I can find a link online, since I only have the print version.
Here 'tis
/Slow day at the site
Thanks, 1359! I was just coming over to post. I like how they made side-by-side comparisons of the jokes. Pretty obvious to me that Dane Cook is a thief. I always thought he sucked as a comedian, must be his own original material that I have seen.![]()
Wait, you mean there are other comedians doing the same material as Dane Cook? And people think THEY'RE funny too?
That was awesome.
That's a very interesting article. I had never heard that Robin Williams stole jokes. It's surprising since he seems to have such a gift for improv.
I haven't heard a lot of Bill Hicks, and while I would buy that Leary stole his act, I don't think the lone example they provide is very convincing. Same with the "wall" joke.... I feel like I heard that line years ago. It's not like Schwartzeneggar was the first to think of a wall between Mexico and the US, and that's a pretty obvious response. Still, Mencia is a hack, and an annoying one at that.
What's also surprising is that Dane Cook seems to be stealing from good comics. I'd be pissed too if my was stolen by someone who can't even deliver it in a funny way.

Yeah, the only convincing one to me was the Louis CK-Dane Cook one. I mean, naming your children and stuff is not something that is a headline. They were way too similar to not be lifted. He barely tried to change anything about it. It's pretty blatant.
I didn't know about Robin Williams either. That kinda saddens me a bit, though they did try to exonerate him somewhat.
Really, that's pathetic.
At least all the other joke stealers are given props for having good deliveries.
Not only is Dane Cook just unfunny, he now apparently doesn't even know what's funny in other peopel.
I had heard about Robin Williams before, but was giving him a little bit of a break because his delivery is riotous.
the thing about leary is, you could watch him muted next to bill hicks and still tell. he stole his act, his gestures, everything.
There's a lot of discussion on this on the IMDB boards for both Hicks and Leary. Definitely not the most objective source (lots of angry Hicks fans), but a lot of examples and food for thought.
Wait . . .
WTF . . .
Pauly Shore's family owns the Comedy Store?????????????????
Yeah, wasn't there a show about it a couple years ago?
That's like Gandhi owning a meat-packing plant.
I saw Rogan live in Vegs a few years back. Definitely not PC and not for minors, but funny as !
I also saw both Denis Leary and Denis Miller live. Leary rockedand Miller sucked

Seeing Denis Leary live is like seeing a Bill Hicks tribute band.

I'd give Leary a little bit of a pass on his theft because he actually has some talent beyond just comedy and I understand he does a lot of charity work in Boston. Plus he had the common sense and enough talent to recognize the good stuff and deliver it well. Mencia and Cook suck donkey balls.
I just think it's funny that Leary hasn't done much standup since Hicks passed.
Although The Asshole Song was pure genius, so I'll give him points for that.
Yeah Leary is a bit busy with that tv show and all...![]()
