I had a diesel Rabbit eons ago myself.
it wasn't called a rabbit though.
Don't lie! That is definitely a RABBIT!
I guess technically it was in the rabbit family (lol), but that wasn't the name of the car.
Hint: It's the first addition of this car that was sold in the states.
a what?
btw, Tlong is close on the year.

Must be the Golf then. It's still a Rabbit though. 1986?
Yes, it's technically a Golf, but it wasn't called that. Think higher performance...up your year by one.
1987 Gti?
It doesn't look high performance.
getting hot...what type of gti?
Not by today's standards, but the car came stock with Pirelli tires! Which I couldn't afford to replace after they wore out.
Anyway...it was a fun car to drive, so much so, that I put 75,000 miles on it in 2 years. Although, I did drive from San Juan Capistrano to Corona 5 days a week.
Some history...
.Then, in 1987, VW introduced a 16 valve engine for the GTI. The engine was being sold in the Scirocco since 1986, powered by a 123hp version (in the US). The GTI also got the 123hp version, which was still a 1.8l, but now with a 16v head. The GTI 16v made up for the power-lacking problem, and more. The 16v version had slightly lowered suspension, bigger anti-roll bars, and stiffer springs to make up for the extra weight in the front of the car. Also, the 16v had a few little things in the engine compartment to make it smoother than an 8 valve, like piston oil squirters to keep the bottom end a little cooler, and standard power assisted steering. Volkswagen kept everything the same for a few more years, until 1990
It's a 1987 Volkswagen GTI/Golf GT.
Yah..but it was the GTI 16V. Didn't see too many of them on the road back in the day. I was looking for the specific engine type.
4 speed manual even!![]()
you were lucky to have that in 87, hatchbacks are the , especially GTIs, and manual is a big + as well
Vettes suck. Tupperware mobiles.
It had a lot of room. When I put the seats down, I was able to fit my bike in the back. I think sticker was 15k and some change.
