Yao should get his props. He did a good job in being the rock for his team. He stepped up against Kobe with his quiet 39 .

Should have hit our freethrows....and the refs made some questionable calls..oh, well, no move in the standings...not too worried. I just hope they move away from Kobeball and play with the team more. Their bench is decimated..no Mo Evans, Radman, cook, that's 3 of our top bench players...no wonder Kobe has to put the scoring on his back.
5-2 over the last 7 games, with Kobe averaging almost 50 per game....yikes

    Kobe 19-44 3-9 3's, 12-14 FT 2 REb 2 Assists 53 pts. L

Yeah, I think he should readjust his approach a bit. But the Houston rockets just beat the Lakers , more than Kobe lost it so...

but Kobe doesn't need to be taking 50 percent of the teams' shots.

Seriously, he needs to blend the facilitator role with the scoring role from now on. It may cause more L's but it will help chemistry. There in a bad spot lately, injuries, poor chemistry and guys playing hurt: Kwame, Luke, and Odom. Oh, and we got guy called Smush running the point...nuff said.

They have no bench....after Bynum, they have Shammond, Aaron Mckie and Turiaf...not going to get it done.

Odom was playing aggressive, I noticed. But he missed some critical game changing freethrows. I notice they're a bit out of sync as far as the other guys go. There's a lot of potential for that mesh of chemistry. Especially with your bigs.

    As for Smush ...

I know...earlier they had a good grove...the bench with Sasha, Evans, Radman, Turiaf and Bynum, and throw in Kobe, Odom and Walton occasionaly and they played really well. It's too bad we have to see Kobe launch a god awful amount of shots for them to compete lately. It's almost too late for Kobe to be passive... see 7 game losing streak.

Yeah Kobe needs to learn the difference between being a facilitator and being passive. Learn from Richard Hamilton on how to move without the ball. Kobe had a respectful game but took too many shots to make his point total. Therefore the lakers lose.

He was also the reason the lakers got down by so much. I believe he he was 1-11 in the second half before he got on fire.

kobe also shot the lakers out of the game in the beginning. at one point he had 33 points on 33 shots. it's great for him that he made up for his bad play later, but let's not ignore the boneheaded way he was playing for the first 40 minutes of the game.

By my calculations, it looks like 40.4 ppg for March.

    Kobe:

    19-44 FGs
    3-8 3pt
    12-14 ft
    53 pts
    2 rbs
    2 ast

..but he just traveled with 16.6 left and blew the game.
Wow, so he shot the ball 44 times to get 53 points, meaning he shot 43% for the game and did little else? (2 boards 2 assists)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you shoot under your team's average fg% for the season and put up a relentless barrage of shots, getting to 50 is a of a lot less impressive, especially when you play poorly at the end and finish up losing anyway.

This scoring binge he's on is quite remarkable -- shooting 43% on any given night to get to 50 points is not something spectacular. There ARE a lot of players in the NBA right now that could hit 50 almost nightly with 44 shots.

Go ahead. Praise him. Latch yourself to his jock. 43% sucks for a shooting guard. Though I guess when you never shoot over 47% in a season it is pretty good.

*note* Dallas, this comment wasn't specifically directed at you. Just all the "Kobe is better than MJ" fans out there who are under 20 years old.

Let's see, Kobe takes 44 shots in 48 minutes and the two teams combine for 8 bench points. Looks like a couple of first round exits to me.

Tonight, his game wasn't impressive. In the streak, it was - he was upwards of 50%.

Jordan averaged 53.8% for a season, which means he was shooting what when he was hot? 60%? 62%?
