I became a Spurs Fan when George Gervin scored 33 pts in one quarter, 73 for the game, against the New Orleans Jazz (1978?)

I remember hearing the game on the radio, that's when Ice won the scoring championship that year.
Ice had 63 that night. David Thompson of the Nuggets poured in 73 earlier in the day, but Ice got just enough to win the scoring le.

If Ice had reached 73, that would be the Spurs record, which it can't be since David Robinson's 71 is the Spurs franchise record.

Ice would probably only get about 15-20 PPG in today's NBA, though.

And Manu would have probably averaged about 40 ppg in the NBA of the 70's and early 80's.

Maybe, but my point is that Ice is 55 years old, for gosh sakes!

He would probably get that amount against the Suns.

And Dirk might be gay for those skimpy shorts.

Sure, but Manu would have only been 1 year old when Ice went for 63.

So after they choked in the Finals, why did you stick around with the Mavs?
Because if you drop your team after a tough loss like that, you are a bandwagoning pussy.

A true fan sticks with their team, win or lose.

Seems to me he was already bandwagoning when he said he barely started rooting for them last year.

I do remember him too......whatever happened to him anyways? I always thought he did an excellent job.
Sam Smith was awesome. He wished me happy birthday on air during a Spurs-Suns road game back in like 86 or 87. I think Miami stole him from us when they joined the league.

1978, I was a freshmen in highschool. Believe it or not, I'd never seen an entire basketball game before. Our family was not into sports.

I've been a fanatic ever since.

That's when my family moved to SA, and hence my addiction began.

Oh, and that's when I started watching the Spurs, too.

My family moved to SA in June 1973. The Chaparrals announced they were moving to SA a month later.

    This was not a coincidence.
