Many times broadcasters who root for one team are careful to give the other team the benefit of the doubt, particularly when they aren't employed by that team. Barry wouldn't be the first or the last.
The other guy on the broadcast (Breen?) was constantly siding with the Spurs on calls. So really it balanced itself out.

I'm more concerned with Jon Barry's total ignorance about basketball than his supposed bias.

Classic stuff. A Spurs fan accusing other teams of cheapshots.
I agree. The Suns and their fans have the market cornered on blaming the officials and dirty play for losses rather than poor defense, execution and decision making. Those complaints just ring hollow coming from a Spurs fan despite Manu's black eye the knot on Parker's head.

Please. I'm fine if Spurs fans want to chalk this up to playoffs, physical basketball, etc. But to then go call out the other team for something that the Spurs do on a regular basis is purely hypocritical. Make up your mind.

As I mentioned before, Breen was pointing out the rules to the ex-NBA player, who we agree seems ignorant of the rules when criticizing calls. Breen was correct in virtually every case. I submit that it may be an attempt to compensate for a rooting interest in San Antonio on his part.

Jon Barry's a dumbass. He just stated again that he was in the Suns locker room and everyone including Nash, Steoudmaire, etc were upset with Bowen's "knee to the groin of Nash" Bull .

What's more he goes on to say that it was clear that Bruce had the intent
do that and he should have been tossed or assessed a flagarant Sometimes, I really hate ABC commentators. They always state their opinion as if it were a clear fact of the matter. Brent needs to beat up his brother. Jon prolly hates the Spurs cuz his brother managed to get a ring with them and he reitred without one

This is the kind of hypocrisy that I'm talking about. When Barry points out clear and obvious bad calls, it's him being a Suns homer, but when Breen does the same thing in the Spurs favor he's just point out the rules.

Hey, I agreed with you. I can show you a picture of Amare putting his forearm in Manu's throat BEFORE he got kicked in the balls, I can show you Parker getting head-butted to the ground by a guy who threw Avery Johnson to the floor, and I can show you Manu's black eye. I'll even throw in a takedown on Kobe Bryant that drew a suspension. I can also explain how Nash initiated the contact with Bowen and Amare initiated the contact with Horry.

If virtually every Suns fan that's been in this forum has the complete and total lack of decorum to accept that their team is just getting beat, and would rather ride the whaaambulance from thread to thread with the complaints on full volume, you will carry very little weight choosing only to go after the occasional Spurs fan who throws your own claims back at you just to piss you off.

I cant believe the Suns fans think that Bruce intentionally kneed Nash in his vagina. when your team actually finds their nads then what you say will actually sound like something other than whining

I'm sorry, I could swear you said that Barry was ignorant. I agreed with you. I mentioned that Breen knows the rules before you ever came in here. In addition, if I ever mentioned that Barry was a Suns homer I certainly don't recall doing so. You might pick a position and stick with it at some point, because you just look like a moron throwing a fit in an opposing team's forum.

My point exactly. Don't complain about the suns if you don't complain about your own players.

I was referring to Barry making moronic and unsightful comments about things that actually pertain to the game, not fouls, not about his ing about obvious no calls against the Suns.

About a week ago on an ABC pregame, Jon Barry was asked who would win the le and offered this prediction:

He was smiling and nodding his head the whole time. This is no Spurs-hater.
I remember that, too. But in all of the predictions on the website and in pretty much all broadcasts besides that one where it's discussed, he picks/ed the Suns.

    *shrugs*

You might do well to follow your own advice, especially if you are throwing the "hypocrite" label around.

According to you and your ilk, fouls pertain to the game more than the play of the players on the court, since it's the primary reason the Suns ever lose. I think you've gotten hopelessly lost in your own circular logic. I must admit that it's very difficult to try to extract any coherent belief from.

On the real, this is getting very old very quickly. Cheapshots have been around the game for decades. Its only now with the insertion of 1000's of camera angles are people really starting to see what goes on during game time. And don't be fooled by thinking that this is isolated to certain teams, its all over. Any team with a guy that has played 3 or more years in the league has a cheapshot in his arsenal. The only time it becomes a factor is when a fans team loses. Not just Spurs Fans, not just Suns Fans but all fans.

I'm getting to the point where I can give a about what anybody else thinks I just want to see basketball being played. The media's job is to hype up matchups and situations in order to produce ratings that is all. They could care less whether they are right or wrong as long as they get to spew an opinion and get people to agree or disagree. This creates intrigue and interest and that in turn creates money. We are watching a great series that would probably still be great if it was broadcast on PBS. The negative is that we have to listen to the "opinions" of jackasses for hours on end just to get to the reason why we watch...to see the players play.

I suggest push the mute button.

Sao Paulo has a population of over 11 million. Some small town.

But in fairness to Tirico, Sao Paulo is a small media market (like San Antonio).
Sao Paulo is the world's second largest city and a massive, absolutely major economic hub in South America. I'd have to say its media market is much larger than San Antonio's, even taking into consideration per capita economic factors like GDP per household.

Don't stoop to Bowen's level. The Suns can still win this, and they can do so playing clean.
it's good to see yall out in full support

Wow if he said that he sure is wishy washy because I remember he said in last nights game that bowens knee to the groin was not intentional that NBA players are allowed to clear out space with there elbows and legs.

Barry was horrible yesterday... I found myself talking to him thru the tv he was so bad, lol... he was more biased for the Suns than Sean is for the Spurs

He must be jealous that Brent's got a ring and is about to get another one... I bet Brent and Rick rub it in all the time that they have rings and he doesn't...

Some of you guys need to watch the games when the Spurs aren't involved. If you can't hear bias by the commentators when you have no rooting interest, then maybe your own bias is affecting what you hear.

Jon Barry has a huge crush on Steve Nash and STAT.

He probably jacks off to a poster of them both in between station breaks.
His anti Lakers stances during last round's playoffs vs the Suns was nauseating for a lot of Lakers fans. There were like 20 threads at one time on Lakersground on that very subject.

    Barry is a punk ass.
