I've bagged my grocery checker before.
NO! When you are using the self check out it tells you to put the item in the bag once you scan it. If the item is really light then it won't detect it and screws up the whole check out process.
I've bagged my grocery checker before.
Is this HeadBanger?
I used to teabag my groceries, but it attracted too much unwanted attention in the checkout line.
And ewww! Remind me never to eat at your house!
i'm mostly at costco, and they box your .
i'm usually in the 10 items/less line when at heb.
i don't care who bags it. me or whoever.
I so much prefer that over Sam's!
Baggers? Huh? Never seen this in Toronto in my life, I thought they stopped doing that in the 50s.![]()
It's funny...when you work at HEB the last night of orientation is learning to sack groceries properly. Using certain items as a border for the bags, etc. The crazy part is, you learn and that and it immediately falls to , once you actually work at the store. The supervisiors tell you, we're looking for speed. Well DOH, why did I just go through a week's worth of training?
Best thing to do is watch them sack and point out where you want certain things. They don't mind. Least I didn't.
If we go shopping together, one of us will check to make sure everything rings up the right price while the other will bag or help the bagger bag. If I'm by myself, there's usually always a bagger there, which is kind of funny that way. If there's no bagger, I have no problem bagging the groceries myself.
that, they get paid to bag my groceries.
You're brethren must love you
I always shop in the evenings, frequently use a cart, and use self check. Most of the time, I'm getting 3 half-gallon skim Mootopias, and hate lugging a handbasket even if they fit. I rarely check out more than 10-12 items, I just want to roll through the store, not lug that stupid handbasket weighing 35 lbs.
My HEB always has the "watcher" cashier presiding over the self-check lanes. If you use the SC lanes enough, they know who you are, and just over-ride any errors without explanation. All I have to do is look at the kiosk, and give a quizzical look, and they hit their magic key, and I'm back in biz.
I hate the people that use self check, and take like half an hour to feed 35 one dollar bills into the hopper.

see, if you are quick, and an experience self check out user, then it's OK. my gripe is people that have a lot of stuff AND are slow with everything or don't know how to use the machine properly![]()
One thing that I have never understood since I lived here is why H-E-B (and every other place) refuses to double-bag. For example, they pack 20 canned items in one bag and then don't double-bag it.In Los Angeles, they automatically double-bag anything that's even slightly heavy. Here even if I ask them to double-bag one particular bag, they cop a big at ude or act like they don't know what I'm talking about.
What's so hard about double-bagging heavy bags?
Anyway, to answer the thread, I sometimes bag my own stuff if there's no bagger.
Are you saying there are no double-baggers in San Antonio???
HEB baggers are trained not to double bag, unless the customer specifically asks for it.
No I do not. HEB gives great service and always has someone there to bag everything. The only time I might help is at WalMart but I try NOT to go there....
Target never makes me bag anything. And no I don't have children.....
Matthew says the reason they don't double bag stuff automatically is because HEB is trying to go "Green" and is trying to do away with paper and plastic bag use as much as possible. That is why they want you to buy those cloth bags you can use over and over. They teach their baggers to stuff as much as possible in each bag and not to waste bags.
And apparently they are also trained to cop an at ude or act like your crazy, if the customer does specifically ask for it![]()
that and it cuts into their profit margin.
you know wut?
it...if they don't bag it quick enough....snatch and grab.... the man...
They're finally going to be building one next to the Academy at the Forum.![]()

Always check the price. Last week I was charged $94 for a brisket!![]()
We were checking out and I usually keep an eye on the screen to make sure they are ringing up the right price but hubby and I got into a discussion of whether we needed more rock salt or not. Anyway, my bill was around $250. I paid because it is not unusual to spend $$$$ at the grocery store. It did seem kind of high though and I glanced at my receipt and saw $94.30 by the brisket. Uh....it can't be THAT good!![]()
I saw the sign the other day!
