Don't give a about Parker taking off. My biggest worry is the Spurs stability in San Antonio and the actual franchise seeking greener pastures.

As long as they reside in SA, its all feathers.
They're in pretty good shape for the next twenty years or so.

James Worthy, Jo Jo White, Cedric Maxwell, and Joe Dumars have won Finals MVP's, and they weren't centerpiece players either.

And once Tim is in decline past the age of 35, the Spurs aren't going to be anything special anymore.

All good things have to come to an end, and I guess for the Spurs the end is 2011.
What's all this talk of Tim declining anyway? Kareem played very effectively well into his late thirties and then when his talents and abilities diminished he still played on until retiring at 42. Could this be the path Tim will follow? Maybe. I just think it is premature to conclude that his talents will drop off a cliff precipitously just because he will turn 35.

No offense, but Eva won't have a career past Desperate Housewives. She's horrible at acting.

Since when does that have anything to do with an acting career?

Whats the over/under on how long they will be married? Hollywood odds probably wouldn't have them still together in 2011. I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but 2011 is a rather long time from now...alot can change. Maybe she won't even be a popular actress any more. She could always take over as the World Car girl in 2011. That way she keeps acting and he stays a Spur.
Seeing Eva without makeup...makes me think it will last about 2 to 3 years. She looks pretty rough in the morning...

From what most of the people have said that have seen them out and about, she's usually not made up, so I'm sure he's used to that.

There's three to four more seasons before this is an issue, and hopefully there will be some championship magic left for those seasons. If not, I can't complain because 4 Championships is 3 more than I ever hoped for watching the Spurs in the late 80's and 90's. It has been a great run, but it will come to an end as we know it and then a new era will begin. It will be interesting to see how the Spurs go about handling that situation when it arrives.

One thing I am almost certain about - we will find out who the real Spurs fans are around 2011 or 2012.

Speaking of Eva - I heard that she was pressuring TP to get married (like that's a shock) and that TP was dragging his feet about it until Eva decided to get chummy with Mario Lopez. Once TP saw that he went ahead and proposed out of jealousy I imagine. I hope it's not true, but if it is this marriage will more than likely not last long. Getting married because your gf purposely made you jealous in an attempt to pressure you is not a good reason.

The Mayan calendar ends in 2012. Clearly this is because they knew it wasn't going to be needed therefor this thread is moot.

Exactly. Just in case this is true, I have went ahead and built a Loft cabin on my property, this past month. Better safe than sorry. If nothing happens 12/22-24/2012, cool. I will drop back to cruise mode and be looking forward to retirement and Spur games .

Looks like the lesson the Spurs gave Tony on it just being a business(Jason Kidd) will pay dividends in 2011.

Tabloid story. Eva and Mario have been friends (platonic) for a long time and Tony is friends with him too. They never "got chummy" unless that means just friends Tony isn't someone who is going to be pressured into marriage. He has his head on straight.

I apologize if this has been posted.

In the Sports Illustrated "Spurs: A Dynasty in San Antonio", there is an article on Tony and Eva.

On page 60, Tony is quoted as saying:

"We need to live in the same city, so naturally my decision [where to sign when contract expires] is going to be effected by Eva and her career."

Eva adds, "Are you sure you want to say that? You don't want Pop to get mad."

Now, the article says Tony's under contract until 2011. Also, Eva loves San Antonio, and they're building a house here.

On the other hand, Tony has always wanted to be a superstar like Michael Jordan... I have to wonder if he feels San Antonio is just not going to get it done.
Tony has a lot more EGO in him than Manu and Tim that is for sure. I remember him doing a recent interview saying how sometimes he gets frustrated thinking he does not get enough credit because he plays in a small market. Also that he wants to make the All Star team every year from now on. You never hear Tim say stuff like that, he doesn't give a he just wants to win. Personally i don't see the marriage lasting. Eva seems nice and genuine but she is a tv star and all these celebreties when they get married it usually fizzles within 2 years.

The San Antonio Spurs have stood the test of time, small market or not. Their over-all team winning percentage and Pct. of years making the playoffs has got to be up there near the top of the NBA.

San Antonio has had some good fortune...but the secret to the city is its people.

Tony's game TO THIS POINT has been predicated on quickness, but would you agree that he has improved in every facet of the game, especially his jumpshot, so that his quickness is not his only asset?

IMO, Tony has the talent and work ethic to grow beyond just being that guy who scores by being faster than everyone....and he has already begun to show signs of being able to do that.
In a one-on-one situation, he is getting open looks because he is quick. He can break down a zone with his ultra quick speed and as a result, defenders are backing off him and giving him space to shoot. Once TD is gone (no more open looks off double teams) and his quickness is gone, I'm willing to bet his jump shot will be gone as well.

Agreed TP's best years will be the next 3 or so. Once Timmy is out of his prime or retired it will be downhill for him after that.

We need him, once Duncan and Gino is gone, he's really all we'll have left of this current roster of efficiency.

Parker is staying here, I know it, just remember there's the off season for him to go to LA with Eva and make the news, media, everything. Parker knows when it's game time and when he can take the breaks and make it in Entertainment Weekly. It'd be difficult to do that during a long stretch of an NBA season and still be a top player in the league.

    Parker doesn't have an ego.

Why do you need him Duncan is the foundation of everything when he is done so are the Spurs glory years. Let Tony go elsewhere when the run is over and start from scratch. If they have him under contract then trade him for picks or let him go in FA. I love Tony but you can't build anything around him.

I know, but do you not want to make the playoffs when Duncan is gone?
